Garosu-gil pasta restaurant: cream vs tomato vs oil at Awesome Rose
In short
Awesome Rose Garosu-gil is a rose-decorated pasta restaurant on the basement level of a building just off Garosu-gil, near Sinsa Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Visiting with a friend, the writer ordered three plates at 16,900 won each — White Rose Pasta, Awesome Tomato Pasta and Rose Aglio e Olio — to taste cream, tomato and oil sauces side by side, for a total of 50,700 won for two. Because none of the three sauces overlapped, Awesome Rose works well for two people with different tastes sharing plates.

A Garosu-gil meal enjoying three kinds of pasta in a space decorated all over with roses
I went to Awesome Rose near Garosu-gil to have pasta with a friend. The atmosphere and the food photos looked so pretty that I'd been curious about this Garosu-gil pasta spot for a while.

Where is Awesome Rose Garosu-gil, and where do you park?
You can find it by walking in from Sinsa Station toward the inner part of Garosu-gil.

The entrance was covered in best-review certifications, and valet parking is available in the alley behind the 7-Eleven for ₩4,000 for 2 hours.

Inside the rose-decorated basement dining room
From the entrance leading down to the basement, roses were everywhere, giving it a completely different vibe from an ordinary pasta place.

Inside, the space was full of flowers and sentimental little props, and the lighting was soft, making the whole place feel cozy. There were photo-worthy spots everywhere, so it seemed like a good place to visit not just for a meal but as a Garosu-gil date spot.
The tables weren't cramped, and the classic mood made it a nice place to eat while chatting slowly. There were just two of us, but there were so many menu items we wanted to try that we ended up ordering three pastas.
What two people ordered at Awesome Rose, and what it cost
- White Rose Pasta ₩16,900
- Awesome Tomato Pasta ₩16,900
- Rose Aglio e Olio ₩16,900
- Coca-Cola Zero ₩0
- Total ₩50,700

Ordering was simple, done right at the table.

It was convenient to pick dishes while looking at photos and prices for each menu item, and after ordering, the Coke came out right away.

Our order arrived.

White Rose Pasta, 16,900 won: the cream option
As the name suggests, White Rose Pasta is built on a white cream sauce base. You could really taste the soft, nutty flavor of the cream sauce. It came with plenty of sauce, and the noodles were richly soaked in cream, so it was moist.

With the first bite, the soft flavor of the cream came through first, followed naturally by a nutty richness. It was more soft and moist than heavy, so it wasn't overwhelming to eat. It wasn't a strongly seasoned dish, so it was easy for anyone to enjoy, and it was the softest of the three pastas.

Awesome Tomato Pasta, 16,900 won: the tomato option
Awesome Tomato Pasta had the tangy, rich flavor of tomato sauce alive and well. After the White Rose, eating this tomato pasta felt like it cleared the palate.

The sauce blended naturally with the noodles, and it was a familiar, comfortable flavor. Alternating between the cream sauce and the tomato sauce made each one's distinct charm stand out even more. Rather than ordering just one menu item, it seems like a good idea to visit with several people and share different kinds. It was a Sinsa-station pasta restaurant that's good to visit with people who have different tastes, thanks to the variety of pasta types.

Rose Aglio e Olio, 16,900 won: the oil option
Rose Aglio e Olio is oil-based, so it was lighter to eat than the previous two menu items.

The flower on top is an edible flower, so it can be eaten.
The garlic aroma and the nutty richness of the oil soaked well into the noodles, and it wasn't overly greasy, so I kept reaching for more. Ordering all three sauces — cream, tomato, and oil — at once meant the flavors never overlapped, and the combination worked well too.

Are three pasta plates too much for two people?
Ordering three pasta plates for two of us seemed like it would be a lot, but each sauce had its own character, so we ate through all of them evenly. Pairing it with a Coke Zero in between made it feel even cleaner. Each dish arrived with tidy plating, letting us fully enjoy the atmosphere of a proper Garosu-gil pasta spot.

Awesome Rose was a place where you could enjoy the store atmosphere along with the food. With the rose decorations and soft lighting, it seems like it would suit an anniversary or a blind date too. If you're looking for a good Apgujeong restaurant and want a meal at a Western restaurant with a nice atmosphere, it's worth putting on your list.
All three types had different sauces, so it was fun to choose based on preference, and it was also good for sharing several dishes with a friend. I especially liked alternating between the creamy White Rose and the refreshing tomato pasta.

Awesome Rose is a good place to visit if you're looking for a Sinsa-station pasta restaurant with a nice atmosphere, or need a special Garosu-gil date spot. There's a good variety of pasta types and the photos come out pretty, so next time I'd like to try the set menu that includes steak. It was a Garosu-gil pasta spot where I got to enjoy both the atmosphere and several kinds of pasta.
