Songjeong, Busan tea café: Beach Train QR timetable at Suwolgyeonghwa

In short

Suwolgyeonghwa (수월경화) is an ocean-view tea café on the 3rd and 4th floors of a building right in front of Songjeong Beach in Haeundae, Busan, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame both the sea and the Beach Train. At Suwolgyeonghwa, the blogger ordered Hongyusaeng tea, an iced Hoji Gabae and the Dalbodeure Box dessert set, then used the QR guide on the table to check the Beach Train timetable and photograph each passing train. Suwolgyeonghwa is a good fit for anyone who wants the sea, the Beach Train, Korean tea and Korean desserts in one place.

There was one place I really wanted to visit on my Busan trip!! I went to Suwolgyeonghwa (수월경화), a Busan Beach Train café where the whole Songjeong sea spreads out in front of you and you can even watch the Beach Train go by!! It's such a lovely spot to relax over a cup of tea, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a Busan café with good vibes~

Where is Suwolgyeonghwa and what are its hours?

Suwolgyeonghwa is on the 4th floor at 188 Songjeongjungang-ro 6beon-gil, Haeundae-gu, Busan, and it's open daily from 11:00 to 20:30 (last order 20:00). I heard they're also extending hours to 23:00 from June 19!!

It's right in front of Songjeong Beach, so it wasn't hard to find at all!!

Sea views through the windows on the 3rd and 4th floors

You can use both the 3rd and 4th floors, and both have floor-to-ceiling windows, so you get a wide-open view of the Songjeong sea!! Once you go up, a completely different atmosphere opens up. With the waves in full view outside, just sitting there felt healing.

You can also check the Beach Train timetable on the QR guide on the table, haha

There's a floor seating area on the 3rd floor too! You order on the 4th floor.

What kind of menu does Suwolgyeonghwa have?

Suwolgyeonghwa is a Busan café where you can enjoy premium tea, Korean desserts and its own signature coffee!! The menu was a bit different from an ordinary café: lots of drinks made with traditional Korean teas, and carefully prepared traditional desserts.

They sell tea bags in one corner too, so I think they'd make a great gift~

A photo spot for the Beach Train and the sea together

Every time the Beach Train passed the window, lots of people took photos!! Each time of day had its own charm as a Busan Beach Train café. You can capture the train and the sea together, so the photos come out really moody and beautiful. There were plenty of photo spots all around, too.

The warm feel of a hanok (traditional Korean house) blends naturally with the modern interior, so wherever you shoot, the mood is great. If you're looking for a Songjeong ocean-view café, I think you'll like this vibe~!!

Ordering Hongyusaeng tea, Hoji Gabae and the Dalbodeure Box

I ordered Hongyusaeng tea, Hoji Gabae and the Dalbodeure Box!! Everything came out together, and with the tea and desserts set out side by side it looked so elegant. It matched the window seat perfectly, so I took a bunch of photos before digging in!!

How does the Hongyusaeng tea taste?

Hongyusaeng tea has a classic black tea base with the fresh brightness of yuja (citron), so the aroma was really subtle. Ginger and red bellflower root (hongdoraji) come together for a warm, clean finish that I loved. It left my whole body feeling at ease, so I think tea lovers will be happy with it.

How does the iced Hoji Gabae taste?

This is the Hoji Gabae I ordered iced. The nutty aroma of hojicha (roasted green tea) went really well with the soft latte cream. It isn't overly sweet, so it's easy to enjoy alongside desserts. The gentle hojicha scent lingers as you drink, which made it a drink I kept thinking about.

What's in the Dalbodeure Box?

The Dalbodeure Box I ordered with them was a dessert set that makes you happy just looking at it!! It packs a variety into one box.

  • Injeolmi skewer (chewy roasted-soybean-powder rice cake)
  • Black rice steamed cake
  • Ganache monaka (wafer sandwich)
  • Whole red bean butter monaka
  • Seaweed and pollock roe financier

I was even happier because you get to taste a little of several things. The injeolmi was chewy and nutty, and the black rice steamed cake had a lovely subtle sweetness. The ganache monaka kept its crisp texture and rich chocolate flavor, and in the red bean butter monaka the nutty butter and red bean blended together nicely. The seaweed and pollock roe financier added a salty savory note that felt really different. Enjoying it slowly with tea, I lost track of time.

I'd gaze at the sea out the window, snap another photo as the Beach Train went by, then go back to my tea and relax. Even among Songjeong ocean-view cafés, a place where you can watch both the sea and the Beach Train like this feels really special.

Who is Suwolgyeonghwa for?

If you're looking for a Busan Beach Train café where you can enjoy the scenery plus Korean tea and desserts, I'd recommend Suwolgyeonghwa!! It's good for a short break during a Haeundae trip, and it was a very satisfying date spot too.

If you're after a good café in Haeundae, want to really feel the atmosphere of a Songjeong ocean-view café, or want to take moody photos at a Busan Beach Train café, I'd definitely recommend this place!! I'd love to come back to Suwolgyeonghwa on my next Busan trip~!!
