Window-seat BBQ in Yeongtong, Suwon with bokbunja wine: Sogogi Twist

In short

Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch is a value-priced beef BBQ restaurant on the first floor of Millennium Plaza, next to the Yeongtong District Office in Suwon. With a reservation the writer was seated by the window and ordered the 1kg mixed beef platter (88,000 won) of shrimp meat, chuck flap tail and neck chain, with bokbunja (black raspberry wine), doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice) and a cheese-topped bomb steamed egg. Thick-cut beef plus a strong side-dish lineup make Sogogi Twist an easy recommendation for affordable beef near Yeongtong District Office.

Where is Sogogi Twist Yeongtong, and where do you park?

It's located in the shopping complex next to the Yeongtong District Office, on the first floor of the 'Millennium Plaza' building.

Being on the first floor, it was easy to find. On a cool day like the one we visited, it was nice that they kept the doors open so you could eat while looking outside.

Book ahead for a window seat: what the dining room is like

Since we had a reservation at Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch, they kindly seated us right by the window. It felt open and pleasant being able to eat while looking outside.

Ordering was convenient since there was a kiosk installed at every table.

Spacious dining hall at Sogogi Twist with plenty of seats

There were quite a lot of seats, so it seemed great for group dinners or gatherings too. A group of customers was seated right next to us.

Restaurant wall with a mounted TV and tables

There was also a TV, so it seemed like a good spot to come with friends on days when there's a sports match on, and plenty of local families seemed to come in to eat meat together too. Tissues were hung at every table, which was convenient.

What cuts come in the 1kg mixed beef platter for 88,000 won?

Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch says it uses only real prime-grade beef. The mixed beef platter is only ₩54,000 for 500g and ₩88,000 for 1kg.

We ordered the ₩88,000 1kg mixed platter set with shrimp meat, chuck flap tail, and neck chain. If you're looking for a budget-friendly beef spot near Yeongtong District Office, this is the place.

Table setting with salt, ssamjang, wasabi, and side dishes

The clean table setting was great — salt, ssamjang (soybean paste dip), a variety of side dishes, and even wasabi, essential for eating beef. Side dishes included perilla leaves, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), gat kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi), and pickled cabbage.

The scallion salad that cleanses your palate, and the especially delicious pickled perilla leaves. And finally, the mixed beef platter arrived! Even at a glance the portion looked generous, and the presentation was great too.

The way the meat was piled up looked truly mouthwatering.

Grilling order and taste, from neck chain to chuck flap tail

I think this was the neck chain — the cut on top got grilled first. The flame was strong, so the meat cooked to perfection quickly. It was just the right heat for cooking beef deliciously.

Neck chain cooking on the grill

We ate the well-cooked meat with scallion salad, and also with pickled onion and wasabi. A delicious meaty aroma spread through my mouth. Beef really is delicious. Being able to eat this much delicious beef at this price — we inhaled it without even realizing.

The rest of the cuts underneath the neck chain also looked high quality. The meat was thick, so you could cook it while holding in the juices.

Someone came by partway through and kindly wiped down the grill plate. The owner was also very friendly, constantly checking on all the tables to see if customers needed anything. Next, we put the following cuts on the grill.

Plate of raw beef with even marbling

Beautifully distributed, just the right amount of marbling. It made my mouth water just looking at it.

Tender, well-cooked, fatty beef — it tasted even better paired with bokbunja wine, which I hadn't had in a while.

We finished off even the last cut — full, but it was so good we didn't leave anything behind. The generous portion left us pleasantly stuffed.

Doenjang sulbap and cheese bomb steamed egg: how were the sides?

Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch, a budget-friendly beef spot in Suwon, also had delicious sides.

The doenjang sulbap had rice deeply infused with broth and plenty of meat mixed in, making it perfect for a dessert-like carb finish.

The cheese-topped bomb steamed egg was also a visual knockout. The portion was big, and the cheese stretched endlessly. Eating this alongside the meat and doenjang sulbap made for a perfect combination.

Is Sogogi Twist worth it for affordable beef near Yeongtong District Office?

It seems to already be a well-known local favorite — customers kept coming in even while we were eating. Generous portions, delicious meat, tasty doenjang sulbap and steamed egg, and a friendly owner too.
