We finished up at a screen golf place near Yeongtong-gu Office and headed to Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch for beef. Tissue Appa suddenly got into golf, so I tagged along with him and his friend Boli-samchon — and of course after working out, you've gotta eat protein, haha. So we went to our go-to Suwon beef spot near Yeongtong-gu Office: Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch.

How much beef should three people order?

Two big eaters and one normal eater — the three of us ordered the prime beef platter, 1kg! As a proper beef spot near Yeongtong-gu Office, Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch has a varied menu split into platters, single cuts and sides.

Saturday evening at Sogogi Twist — do you need a reservation?

At 7pm on Saturday, Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch was completely full. We'd booked through Naver Reservation, and I'd recommend you do the same if you're planning to visit in the evening!

Basic table setting and banchan

First, the charcoal grill came out for the beef.

Once the charcoal was going, they set out the banchan (side dishes) — not a huge spread, but a solid, well-made lineup that paired perfectly with the meat.

Beer / soju

The banchan looked so good I couldn't hold off and started on somaek (beer-soju mix). We drink fast, and by the time we'd had about two glasses, the main dish arrived.

The prime beef platter (1kg): what's in it and how much

Sogogi Twist's signature prime beef platter (1kg) came with three cuts: kkotsaeu-sal, salchisal and jebichuri. You can tell at a glance there's a lot of meat here. With two big eaters at the table, I figured we'd need to order more after finishing the 1kg — but we ended up so full we nearly left some behind…

Cheap and generous — but what about the quality?

So if it's cheap and the portions are big, does the quality suffer? Nope! Just look at the color of the meat. The marbling and texture were both great, and every bite burst with juice.

Dipped into the banchan and various sauces, the beef never got boring — I just kept eating and eating. This is exactly why Sogogi Twist is my go-to among all the beef restaurants near Yeongtong-gu Office in Suwon — the value for money and the taste are both there, no question.

And honestly, even after drinking and eating nonstop, we never ran out of food to go with the drinks!

Atmosphere and seating at Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch

Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch had an overall clean but comfortable vibe, great for eating BBQ. The tables weren't cramped, and with both round tables and larger group tables, it looked like a good spot for friends or family gatherings. (We actually shared a table with two big guys, and the round table kept it comfortable without feeling crowded.) And the most important part — the self-serve bar!

On one side of Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch there's a self-serve bar, so you can easily grab more banchan or whatever else you need. I eat pretty salty, so my ssam wraps and banchan run out fast while grilling — being able to grab as much as I wanted without worrying about it was so satisfying.

This time, Tissue Appa, Boli-samchon and I all went to Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch together, and ordering the prime beef platter (1kg) turned out to be way more generous than expected — the three of us ate until we were stuffed and nearly had meat left over.
