Sekwang Yangdaechang Suwon Gwanggyo is a beef tripe and intestine BBQ restaurant on the first floor of W Tower near Gwanggyojungang Station in Suwon. With a husband who usually avoids greasy food, the blogger ordered the mixed grill for two (52,000 won) and Hanwoo (Korean beef) doenjang stew, and found the staff grilling service, side dishes and dessert ice cream all satisfying. Despite a 30-minute wait, Sekwang Yangdaechang Suwon Gwanggyo is a place the blogger can't help going back to.

Garak Market sashimi shop: croaker platter, free abalone, Narae Susan

Narae Susan (나래수산) is a sashimi shop at Garak Market, on the 1st floor of the Garak Mall Panmae-dong building in Songpa, Seoul. The writer, who had only ever known Noryangjin, visited Garak Market for the first time thanks to her husband and took out a live croaker assorted sashimi platter of croaker, sea bass, flatfish and sea bream for 72,000 won, with free abalone sashimi and generous sides. The Narae Susan platter was big enough to make sashimi rice bowls and butter-seared fish with plenty left over, and the writer says she is 200% coming back.

Handmade burger restaurant at Jamsil Station, no fries: Daily Fix

Daily Fix Jangmi Sangga is a handmade burger restaurant in the basement of the Jangmi Sangga arcade, between Jamsil Station and Olympic Park in Songpa, Seoul. On a short stop during a Seoul outing, the blogger skipped the fried sides and ordered a bacon cheeseburger, a cheeseburger, a pastrami sandwich and a Zero Cider for just over 40,000 won, and was impressed by the chewy bite of the house-made patties and their exotic flavor. Daily Fix Jangmi Sangga is worth a return visit for a light but filling meal or a Jamsil date.

Sanbon hair salon: build perm + bangs for iron damage, Urban Trend

Urban Trend Sanbon is a hair salon and men's barbershop on Gwangjeong-ro near Sanbon Station in Gunpo, Gyeonggi. On hair badly damaged by frequent flat-ironing, the writer got a build perm, a bangs trim and thinning at Urban Trend Sanbon, and in about 2–3 hours had natural waves that hold without a flat iron. For anyone hesitant to perm damaged hair, Urban Trend Sanbon was satisfying enough to want to go back.

West Suwon Korean restaurant, stone-pot jeyuk set for two: Godeungeo

Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch (고등어명품이되다 수원점) is a grilled fish, sashimi and Korean restaurant on Seobu-ro in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon. The writer ordered the Myeongpum set at 32,000 won per person for two and got mackerel sashimi, jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork) in a stone pot, grilled mackerel and Atka mackerel, plus unlimited side dishes from a self-serve bar, with the grilled Atka mackerel and the jeyuk seasoning standing out. Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch is a good West Suwon pick when you crave Korean food and want to try a little of everything.

Korean BBQ at Mangpo Station, Suwon: No9 wagyu set for 3, Olheun Gogi

Olheun Gogi Suwon Main Branch (옳은고기 수원본점) is a beef and pork belly Korean BBQ restaurant near Exit 6 of Mangpo Station in Suwon, with staff who grill the meat for you, a spacious dining room, group tables and private rooms. Three diners ordered the beef set with Australian No9-grade wagyu plus Saero soju for about ₩170,000 and enjoyed the set's Hanwoo yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and side dishes like cabbage and chamnamul salad and braised fish with radish. For a group that wants good-value wagyu grilled for them, the Olheun Gogi beef set is a solid choice.

Suwon Station gopchang restaurant for a late date: Horangigul

Horangigul Timevillas Suwon is a Korean beef daechang (large intestine) restaurant on the 3rd floor of Timevillas (formerly Lotte Mall) at Suwon Station in Suwon. A couple walked in late one evening with no wait and ordered a spicy gopchang hotpot, a flame-grilled butadon (pork rice bowl) set, 1 bottle of Saero soju and egg risotto, for just over ₩40,000 in total. Ten years after waiting 1–2 hours at the original Beomgye branch and giving up, the husband loved Horangigul enough to insist on coming back.

Hanwoo omakase in Pangyo for date night: corn soup to burger, Uhwa

Uhwa Pangyo Avenue France (우화) is a hanwoo (Korean beef) omakase restaurant on the 2nd floor of Avenue France in Pangyo, Seongnam. The writer and spouse booked the first dinner seating, starting at 5:30 PM, and enjoyed 11 courses in about 1 hour 30 minutes. The meal ran from cold corn soup to hanwoo tenderloin, a skirt steak dish, gondre (Korean thistle) pot rice, a handmade burger and a blueberry dessert. They were satisfied with the plating, the staff's service and how the course was put together. At 129,000 won for the first seating, Uhwa is not cheap, but easy parking and friendly staff make it a Pangyo date or anniversary spot they plan to revisit.

Seongsu dessert café takeout reheated in an air fryer: Bocado Butter

Bocado Butter Seongsu Main Store is a bocado dessert café on Yeonmujang 7ga-gil, a side street in Seongsu, Seoul. A 1-box bocado set with 2 dipping sauces (12,000 won) and an americano (3,500 won), 15,500 won in total, went home as takeout and was reheated in an air fryer for 1–2 minutes. The leftovers, kept in the fridge overnight, still crunched audibly the next day. Bocado Butter's bocado is rich with butter yet never cloying, an unusual dessert even for Seongsu.
