Ansan izakaya sashimi platter set near Seonbu Station: Izakaya Ho
In short
Izakaya Ho Seonbu Branch is an izakaya in the Seonbu-dong restaurant alley in Ansan, Gyeonggi, two minutes on foot from Exit 1 of Seonbu Station. Returning with a friend after a long gap, I ordered the mixed sashimi and spicy beef tendon nabe set, which costs 5,000 won less than ordering the two dishes separately and arrives with thick cuts of salmon, Spanish mackerel, tuna, abalone, beef sashimi, flounder and sweet shrimp. The nabe broth has a real kick, making Izakaya Ho a solid stop for a bottle of soju.

I finally made it back to "Izakaya Ho," the Seonbu-dong izakaya my best friend and I used to hit up all the time~ It's less than 2 minutes from Exit 1 of Seonbu Station haha.
Hours: Sun–Thu 17:00–01:00 / Fri, Sat 17:00–02:00

Where is Izakaya Ho Seonbu Branch, and how far is it from Seonbu Station?
Izakaya Ho, a Seonbu-dong favorite, sits right in the Seonbu-dong restaurant alley.

It's on the busiest alley in the neighborhood, so you'll find it easily~

There's a today's menu board posted at the door of Izakaya Ho! Same-day mixed sashimi — how could I not try it?

Inside Izakaya Ho: seating and whether it works for a date
The inside of Izakaya Ho, this Ansan izakaya, isn't huge, but the seats are well separated so there are more tables than you'd expect, giving it a cozy feel haha. And even though it's small, I've never found it too noisy!

Izakaya Ho, this Seonbu-dong izakaya, has 2-seat and 4-seat tables, and the tables and sofas are wide enough to fit up to 6 people, I'd say. There's also a second floor, plus seats tucked beside the stairs going up~! Those spots feel really private too, so they're great for a date!

How much does the set menu save over ordering à la carte?
Whenever a restaurant has a set menu, don't you wonder just how much cheaper it actually is? Maybe it's just me lol. But at Izakaya Ho it says right there — ₩5,000 cheaper lol. If it's ₩5,000 off, getting the set is clearly the better deal, right?

True to its reputation as a Seonbu-dong izakaya favorite, Izakaya Ho has a wide range of dishes — mixed sashimi, skewers, soups, grilled items, fried items, and more. Back in the day I used to order the mixed sashimi and mille-feuille nabe a lot at this branch, but this time I went with the mixed sashimi + spicy beef tendon nabe set.

I've drunk a lot of highballs at Izakaya Ho too, and right now they're running a 3+1 promotion!! There are also various review and reservation perks, so check those out~ Oh! Izakaya Ho, this Ansan izakaya, now offers delivery too~ You can enjoy home-izakaya nights now.

The complimentary side dish at Izakaya Ho, this Ansan izakaya, is cucumber!! The cucumber was so big I asked my friend if it was actually a Korean melon, and got teased for acting like I'd never been to an izakaya before lol.

What's in the spicy beef tendon nabe, and how is the broth?
The spicy beef tendon nabe I ordered at Izakaya Ho, this Seonbu-dong favorite, arrived~ Looks properly spicy just by looking at it, right?? The broth is seriously amazing.

It's packed with napa cabbage, mushrooms, and beef tendon. Izakaya Ho is a real nabe spot~ The spicy beef tendon soup passes with flying colors haha.

There's glass noodles in the spicy beef tendon soup too~ Dip the tendon into the nabe dipping sauce and wrap it with cabbage — so good! Come to Izakaya Ho, this Seonbu-dong favorite, for nabe!

What comes on the mixed sashimi platter?
Ta-da! Here's the mixed sashimi from Izakaya Ho, this Ansan izakaya~ It's made up of salmon, mackerel, tuna, abalone, beef sashimi, flounder, and sweet shrimp. So generous, so generous!!

The mixed sashimi at Izakaya Ho, this Seonbu-dong izakaya, comes with chojang (vinegared red pepper paste), soy sauce, and sesame oil salt as dipping options. The sashimi was so fresh and tasty that I only dipped mine in the sesame oil salt haha.

The sashimi cuts are so thick, it's genuinely satisfying to eat!! With three pieces of each, my friend and I got into a little staring contest^^ I went for an extra piece of mackerel because it was so good~~ and my friend grabbed an extra sweet shrimp, saying that was the best.
It had been a while since I'd been back to Izakaya Ho's Seonbu branch, the place my friend and I used to go drinking together all the time in our twenties, and it's still just as delicious, still has the same atmosphere, and it was so nice haha. Had a wonderful time with great snacks and a glass of soju!!
