Yangsan bakery café for blueberry smoothies: Choi Main Branch

A large bakery café near Hopo Station

Choi Main Branch (초이 본점), a café in Yangsan, is near Hopo Station, so I think lots of people from Buk-gu in Busan as well as Yangsan come here. It looked like everyone had a meal nearby before stopping in haha. I’d been curious about Choi Main Branch, this huge building of a bakery café, every time I passed by—and I finally came!!

You can park in front of the café, and there is also a dedicated parking area behind it. Since it’s such a large café, I think they made the parking lot nice and big. So I don’t think you need to worry too much about parking!!

It even has a Blue Ribbon award…!! I was so excited—my heart was racing!!

First-floor bakery and brunch menu

The first floor is where you order bakery items and coffee. Even though it was an awkward time on a rainy weekday, there were lots of customers, so I couldn’t take many photos of the interior haha.

The café’s signature items are mainly pastry-based breads such as croissants, Choi bread, and Haereul Pumeun Dal (The Moon Embracing the Sun).

They were selling macarons too, and oh my gosh…!! They also had cakes I love. The fig cake looked so pretty and delicious that I agonized over it for ages ㅠㅜ!! But I already had cake at home, so this little one will be for next time…!!

They also had all kinds of breads, including chocolate-loaded bread and glutinous-rice castella 🥹💗 Is this heaven…

There were also brunch-focused sandwiches, burgers, and salads, so I think it would be a great place to come for lunch too.

There were plenty of familiar breads too, including pound cake, ang butter salt bread, and pizza bread.

The salt bread loaf that caught my eye…! It was so cute and looked delicious 🤤💦

They also sold baked treats that would make great gifts. There was so much to choose from that I spent more than 20 minutes deciding 🤤💦 Come home with me, all of you…!!

Of course, the undisputed number-one menu item: croissants!! They looked so beautiful and huge that I knew I had to try one.

And Haereul Pumeun Dal (The Moon Embracing the Sun)!! It looked so pretty that I think it would be perfect as a gift. Chuseok is coming up, so I’ve been wondering what small gifts to give people around me… and this Haereul Pumeun Dal from Café Choi is on my gift list too haha. That’s how unique and pretty it looks. After much deliberation, I bought drinks and bakery items and headed up to the second floor!!

Here’s the second-floor interior.

Everything felt open and airy, and the generous space between seats was so nice. Most of all, chairs at large cafés can often be uncomfortable, but these soft sofa-style seats were great for lingering a long time haha.

There was also a lovely room with an elegant chandelier that would be great for gatherings! I think it would be nice for a get-together or for coming as a group.

There were also tiered tables where you could enjoy the view through the windows together. It would be lovely to sit there at sunset or on a nice day!! Unfortunately, I visited when torrential rain was pouring down… so no one was really sitting over there haha.

And the highlight of a large café!! I went up to look at the rooftop too! They even thoughtfully had umbrellas available haha.

Sadly, because of the rain, I couldn’t stay and look around for long, but the open view really made my chest feel clear and refreshed. With such a nice view, it was so lovely to relax and recharge at the café haha.

Blueberry smoothie and pastry tasting

When I came back from looking around the café, my partner had already set out our drinks and bakery treats haha. The coffee was nutty, a classic iced Americano! And the blueberry smoothie was reaaally delicious haha. It wasn’t a cheap syrupy blueberry drink—it tasted like a delicious smoothie made by blending real blueberries. Everyone, please try the blueberry smoothie! I highly recommend it!!

The mango croissant I ordered had delicious mango flesh, and the sweet cream and mango were an absolutely dreamy combination. The croissant was crisp outside and soft inside from the cream, so I think little kids would really like it too.

The bow-tie-shaped pastry had chestnut paste inside, so it was sweet and soft with a wonderfully crisp exterior haha. I recommend it to anyone who loves chestnuts!

This menu item is called the chocolate shot. It was a unique treat wrapped in pastry with a brownie inside, then topped with ganache…!! I thought it would be overwhelmingly sweet, but the brownie inside was rich dark chocolate, so it was rich and sweet in a really satisfying way haha. I recommend it to anyone who likes dense chocolate!

My partner and I came to the café after having gukbap (rice soup), so I didn’t think we’d be able to finish everything—but all the breads were delicious, and we ate until we were bursting haha. The view is great and the café food is delicious too, so I recommend it to anyone looking for a large café in western Busan or Yangsan!!
