Gejang restaurant in Yangsan, 28,000-won jang set: Deodo Gejang

Hi, I'm Meokjay, and I love food. I was hunting for good restaurants near Tongdosa when I stumbled on Deodo Gejang's Yangsan branch! 🦀 I heard you could get fresh crab jang at a reasonable price, so I hurried over. Deodo Gejang is known as a crab restaurant favorite in Yangsan — here's my honest review! 🤎

Where is Deodo Gejang in Yangsan, and is there parking?

Deodo Gejang Yangsan is at 2648 Yangsan-daero, Habuk-myeon, Yangsan-si, Gyeongnam, near the Tongdosa intercity bus terminal, so it's a great stop before or after visiting Tongdosa. It's open daily 11:00–20:00 year-round, and there's plenty of parking so it was an easy visit 😊

I heard Deodo Gejang recently expanded and relocated~? Haha. A whopping 60 pyeong, only something a real hit restaurant could pull off! 😆 A great spot to eat with family on holidays or special occasions!

There's a menu board and an introduction to Deodo Gejang in the hallway~ They say Deodo Gejang uses only premium brewed soy sauce and top-grade yellow crab :) And no MSG is used at all~

Weekend evening at Deodo Gejang: atmosphere and booking

I visited on a weekend evening and Deodo Gejang Yangsan was packed! Depending on the time, there can be a wait, but you can join the waitlist through Catch Table, and there's a waiting area too~

Wow, there were really so many customers haha. I was so glad I'd made a reservation! If I'd come without one, I would've had to wait 😆 ✔️Naver Reservations are also available, so I recommend booking ahead~

After other guests left, I snapped a few more photos hahaha. The place is spacious with lots of tables, so it's great for family gatherings or group meals 😊

Side dishes and the set we ordered

Fitting for a crab restaurant, disposable gloves and aprons were provided haha. Plenty of wet wipes and individually wrapped utensils gave the sense that hygiene is well managed 😊

If you write a Naver receipt review, you get ✔️abalone jang, fried crab, or one bottle of alcohol, they said haha. Something to keep in mind if you visit~

✔️Assorted jang nutritious pot rice set for 2 — after much deliberation we wanted both soy crab and spicy crab haha, so we ordered the assorted jang set!

Eek 😆 The food came out not long after we ordered~ It was a generous spread with soy crab and spicy crab, plus abalone, shrimp, and octopus to enjoy together haha.

I took close-up shots of everything haha. But the real surprise was that besides the main jang platter, there were so many side dishes too!! 👀✨

What comes with the 28,000-won-per-person jang set

The assorted jang nutritious pot rice set is 28,000 won per person, and it came with fried tofu, hot pot bulgogi, kimchi pancake, a fish dish, crab stew, and pot rice too. It wasn't just crab jang — there were so many side dishes.

How the soy crab and spicy crab tasted

Deodo Gejang's soy crab (ganjang gejang) wasn't fishy and had no bitterness, just clean flavor, and the spicy marinated crab (yangnyeom gejang) had just the right amount of heat. Both types were packed with meat.

The meat inside the soy crab was totally packed,,, 🦀🤎 So full of meat that it looked amazing even before tasting ㅎㅎ

Mixing rice into the crab tomalley in the shell, or topping it with a quail egg — how good could that possibly be ㅠㅠㅠ 🤎 Not fishy at all, no bitterness, just clean flavor!

Next is my favorite, spicy marinated crab,,! 🦀❤️ You can see the spicy crab was packed with meat too,,,? Amazing haha

For spicy crab, the sauce matters a lot, and Deodo Gejang's sauce was genuinely delicious! Just the right kind of spicy — a certified rice thief,,! 🦀🍚

You all know wrapping crab and abalone in seaweed, right,,? 🤎 I truly can't resist that combo hahaha

Where's the guy who peels my shrimp,,? 🦐 Shrimp-peeling guys are the best hahaha 👍☺️

Hahaha, after filling up on pot rice, we finished with nurungji (scorched rice tea) ~~ hahaha We really cleaned the whole thing between the two of us,, 🐷 The portions were generous and the crab was fresh, so we left full and happy!

After your meal, if you visit Yangsan Sunji Café, they say you get 10% off the entire menu haha. It's right next door, so I recommend making a mini course of a meal followed by café afterward haha.
