Gijang restaurant for pasta with a baby: Bueokgan Restaurant

In short

Bueokgan Restaurant is a Western-style restaurant on the first floor of Shinsegae Premium Outlets in Gijang, Busan. We ate basil pesto cream pasta, vongole pasta, and Napa cabbage Caesar salad with baby Jaeyi, and the stroller access, high chairs, and waiting area made the family meal easier. A handy place to share several dishes after shopping.

While on an outing around Gijang, I stopped by Shinsegae Premium Outlets for the first time in a while. Shopping is shopping when you come to an outlet, but deciding on lunch is also surprisingly tricky. This time, I visited Bueokgan Restaurant. Since this meal out was with baby Jaeyi, I looked around at the atmosphere first. Inside, the tables were spaced fairly comfortably apart and the space overall felt quite roomy.

When you visit with a baby, choosing a seat can often be awkward because of the stroller, but that day it was not particularly inconvenient to bring the stroller inside and eat. Most importantly, I also spotted dedicated high chairs!

As you can see in the photo, several high chairs were ready, so it looked like a good place for families dining with young children too.

There was also a waiting area near the entrance where you could sit if all the tables were occupied. Personally, I find little details like this surprisingly important when getting around with a baby. Bueokgan is on the first floor of Shinsegae Premium Outlets in Gijang, so the route works well for a meal while shopping.

On a first visit, the outlet is so large that you might wonder, “Where on earth is it?” I checked the information screen while walking around too. I’m leaving the location guide I saw during my visit here.

And one important point! Bueokgan is on the first floor of Shinsegae Premium Outlets in Gijang. It is in a convenient spot to move to for a meal while shopping, so it was a good option for anyone wanting to take care of shopping and dining in one go.

Bueokgan is a restaurant centered on Western-style dishes, so it is a good place for anyone who likes pasta, pizza, and steak. I especially liked that when several people visit together, there are dishes that are easy to order one by one and share. There are many restaurants at the outlet, but that day I chose Bueokgan because I wanted a slightly more relaxed meal. Maybe because I was hungry after shopping, once we sat down and ordered, it somehow felt like we were on a trip.

Once inside, it felt different from an outlet food court, so I thought it would work well for a family meal out or a date meal too.

Western-style dishes that are good for sharing

I took a careful look through the menu when visiting Bueokgan.

There were all sorts of dishes, from familiar options like pasta and pizza that tend to have broad appeal, so it was easy to choose according to the number of people visiting. Families in particular often order several dishes rather than eat just one, and the menu was well suited to ordering that way and sharing.

A combination of basil cream, vongole, and Napa cabbage salad

After choosing our dishes and waiting, the food began arriving one by one.

Even looking back at the photo brings back the food we ate that day. Maybe because it was lunch after walking around the outlet for so long, I felt like reaching for my chopsticks the moment the food arrived. 😂

Basil pesto cream pasta

Basil pesto cream pasta

First up was the basil pesto cream pasta, which caught my eye from the looks alone. It had plenty of arugula and cheese over the creamy sauce, making it prettier and more appetizing-looking than an ordinary cream pasta. The sauce coated the noodles well, and each bite had both the smooth flavor of cream and basil’s distinctive aroma.

The arugula on top cut through some of the richness, so I kept reaching for it even though it was a cream sauce, haha. I also liked that there was plenty of sauce, so every time I twirled up the noodles, enough cream sauce came along with them. Personally, it was the softest and richest style among the dishes we ordered that day, and I think it would suit anyone who likes cream pasta.

Vongole pasta

Second was the vongole pasta! It was completely different from the basil pesto cream pasta, so I was glad we ordered them together. It was generously topped with clams and included garlic and chili peppers, giving it the clean yet pleasantly sharp flavor typical of vongole pasta. There were especially lots of clams, which made it fun to eat with the noodles.

While the cream pasta was smooth and rich, this one was comparatively lighter and savory, so alternating between the two made their different charms really clear. Personally, if several people visit, I think ordering different kinds of dishes—such as pasta, pizza, and steak—to share would be a nice way to go too.

Napa cabbage Caesar salad

We also ordered the Napa cabbage Caesar salad. Personally, this was quite a good part of the day’s combination. The Napa cabbage was grilled, so it felt different from a Caesar salad made with raw vegetables, and the cheese and toppings on top added a variety of textures.

The tender texture unique to grilled Napa cabbage went nicely with the Caesar dressing and cheese, bringing together nutty and salty flavors. If you keep eating only pasta, your mouth can start to feel a little heavy, but having the salad in between made for a good combination.

Iced Americano and cola drinks

For drinks, we ordered an iced Americano and cola. With boldly flavored dishes like pasta and salad, you cannot leave out a cold drink. An iced Americano was especially nice for wrapping up the meal.

My thoughts on it as a family meal after shopping

What I felt after this visit was that Bueokgan Restaurant would be fine for a visit with friends, but it also suits families very well. For families getting around with children, the outlet itself makes for a nice day-out destination, and being able to sort out a place to eat in the middle of it makes things even easier. We shopped and ate that day, and it was convenient not to have to go looking for another restaurant afterward.

If you are shopping at Shinsegae Premium Outlets in Gijang and looking for lunch or dinner, Bueokgan was a good choice too. It is easy to access on the first floor of the outlet, and with a range of dishes from pasta to pizza and steak, it is good for visiting with family or friends and sharing. Above all, the most convenient part was not having to travel far for a meal after shopping at the outlet. If I head to Gijang for an outing and want to shop and eat tasty Western-style food, this is a place I think I will remember for the next visit too. 😊
