Eunpyeong ramen with a baby carrier and extra cilantro: Oreno Ramen
In short
Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is a chicken-broth ramen restaurant on Bulgwangcheon-gil in Eunpyeong, Seoul, listed in the Michelin Guide as a Bib Gourmand pick. With their youngest in a baby carrier, the couple took turns holding him and ate one bowl each of tori paitan and karai paitan, adding cilantro for a sharp, fragrant lift to the rich chicken broth. Between the wood ear mushrooms and the sous-vide chicken breast chashu, Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is an easy recommendation among Eunpyeong ramen restaurants.

What kind of place is Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong?
I really love ramen, so I've gone hunting for plenty of famous ramen shops over the years.
This time I visited Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong, known for a broth so deep it earned a spot in the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand!
It's a standout among Eunpyeong-gu restaurants for its rich chicken broth ramen, so I was full of anticipation before even walking in.

Parking and kiosk ordering at Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong
There's a dedicated space right in front of the building that fits about two cars.
That said, it's not very spacious, so there may be no spots during peak hours — if you're driving, I'd recommend calling ahead or using public transit or a nearby public parking lot.

Right as you walk in the entrance, there's a kiosk.
You order and pay first, then sit at the seat you're guided to — the flow felt really convenient and neat.

Inside Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong: atmosphere and seating
Inside, there's counter-style bar seating along with clean table seats, all well arranged.

The whole interior has a warm wood-tone look, and I liked being able to eat in such a warm, tidy atmosphere.

A water cup and tissues are neatly set at the front of each table.

I noticed a corner with hair ties thoughtfully provided for anyone with long hair who finds it a hassle to eat ramen!

Why you should add cilantro to your bowl
The refreshing, crunchy pickles that come standard already cut through the ramen's richness, but what satisfied me most was adding cilantro.
If you're someone who usually enjoys cilantro, I strongly recommend adding it!
My husband loves cilantro, and he said the sharp, fragrant herb added to the rich, savory chicken broth made it taste exotic and even more luxuriously flavorful — a real treat.
Lineup Tori paitan, karai paitan + added cilantro

What do tori paitan and karai paitan taste like?
Oreno Ramen's signature dishes are undoubtedly tori paitan and its spicy version, karai paitan!
Wanting to try both flavors, we ordered one of each.

As soon as the ramen hit the table, my husband piled in a generous handful of fresh cilantro and gently stirred it into the broth.

I tried the pale, softly foamy broth first — the chicken broth's signature savoriness and umami were great!
You could taste the depth from long simmering, yet it was clean with no gamey aftertaste at all.
It's a classic, well-executed flavor that anyone, regardless of age or preference, can admire and enjoy.

Karai paitan takes the mild tori paitan and adds a pleasant spiciness — perfect for anyone who prefers heat!
It's not a sharp, artificial spiciness that stings the tongue, but a spicy seasoning that blends naturally into the rich broth while also cutting through the richness.
The broth had an addictive pull that kept me coming back for more — I thought it would even make a great hangover cure.

Noodles, wood ear mushrooms and sous-vide chicken chashu
The thin, chewy straight noodles were well coated in broth, and the slurping texture was just perfect.
Instead of the bean sprouts usually found in ramen, this one is notable for its generous crunchy wood ear mushrooms, along with plenty of thinly sliced wood ear and chopped green onion.
The standard sous-vide chicken breast chashu had no dryness at all and was so tender — I had to admit this place deserves its reputation as a great ramen spot.

Eating in shifts with a baby in a carrier
Since I visited that day carrying our youngest in a baby carrier, my husband held the baby and looked after him first while I quickly slurped down my bowl in a storm!
I ate quickly and happily before the noodles went soft, then handed off the baton to my husband so he could enjoy his ramen comfortably too.
If you're looking for a truly life-changing bowl of ramen, or a clean, satisfying Eunpyeong-gu restaurant, this one is worth a visit!
