Private room with a kid at a Gwangalli Japanese diner: Daidokoro

I figured a weekday lunch would be relaxed, but there was already a wait at 11:30am on a Thursday.

My husband, our child and I revisited Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch after a while. This time we ate in a room I hadn't noticed on my last visit, and went all out with the Jadu 2-person set plus shrimp tempura.

Here's my revisit review — there was a wait even at weekday lunch, so let me tell you about it 😊

Where is Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch, and what are its hours and parking?

I used to park at the Suyeong-gu Office, but since August 5, 2026 they've banned outside vehicles from parking there — worth noting if you're heading over.

Finding the Daidokoro Gwangalli building in Namcheon-dong

Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch is on the 2nd floor of a corner building. It was easy to spot thanks to the cute red-lettered sign.

The menu board was also posted outside, which was handy to check before going in.

By the entrance were a waitlist tablet and waiting chairs, as you'd expect from a popular spot around here.

Inside Daidokoro: the inner private room that suits families with kids

Little Japanese home-style knickknacks were scattered around the space, giving it a bit of a Japan-trip feel.

I hadn't noticed it last time, but this visit I saw there's a separate room space further in. We got lucky and ate in the room, and having our child with us, it made things a lot more comfortable.

What comes in the Jadu two-person set, and adding shrimp tempura

We ordered the Jadu 2-person set.

The Jadu 2-person set comes with a karaage set, tonkatsu curry, menbosha (shrimp toast) 4pcs, and one jadu ade, so it was great for trying a bit of everything. We also added two orders of shrimp tempura on top.

First, the karaage (Japanese fried chicken) was crispy outside and moist inside, great with rice. Our kid ate it easily too, so it works well as a family dinner option.

The tonkatsu curry, true to being Daidokoro's signature dish, paired soft curry with crispy tonkatsu — very filling.

The menbosha 4pcs was included in the set too, rounding out the sides nicely.

The jadu ade came with bear-shaped jelly in it — sweet and tangy, and it went well with the fried dishes.

The shrimp tempura we newly added this time was also satisfying. At ₩5,000 for two pieces, the shrimp were bigger than expected, fried whole from head to tail, so they looked appetizing too. Getting to eat a whole fried shrimp — if you love shrimp, it's worth adding as a side.

How long is the wait at Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch?

When we arrived around 11:30, there was already a wait. When we finished our meal and came out around 12:20, the waiting chairs outside were nearly full.

Even at weekday lunch it was this busy — clearly a diner that's been steadily popular in Gwangalli.

Is Daidokoro Gwangalli worth a return visit? Final verdict

This was my second visit to Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch, and the food was as satisfying as ever — plus this time I got to eat comfortably in the room.

The Jadu 2-person set, with its karaage, tonkatsu curry, and menbosha, was great for sharing as a family, and adding the big shrimp tempura made it even more filling for the three of us.

Above all, there was already a wait at 11:30 on a Thursday, and by lunchtime even the waiting chairs were full — if you're looking for a go-to diner in Gwangalli, it's worth a visit. Daidokoro is a place I'd want to return to whenever I want a hearty lunch with my kid.
