Sundaeguk restaurant by Seokchon Lake: pork jowl set for two, Boseung
In short
Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch (보승회관 방이점) is a sundaeguk (Korean blood sausage soup) restaurant on Ogeum-ro in Songpa, Seoul, right in front of Seokchon Lake. On a chilly weekday evening, two of us shared the sundae and pork jowl suyuk set for 2: tender boiled pork jowl, glutinous rice sundae, plenty of chives and a sundae gukbap packed with meat. Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch serves a generous, well-rounded set for two, and a hearty bowl there pairs perfectly with a walk around Seokchon Lake.

I visited Boseung Hoegwan, a place that anyone who loves sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) has probably heard of. I remember enjoying sundaeguk at a Boseung Hoegwan branch in Gangnam a while back. Craving it again, this time I visited the Bangi branch at 101 Ogeum-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
As the weather got a bit chilly, I naturally started craving a hot soup dish haha. I ordered a set that let me enjoy sundae and pork jowl together, so let me share how it turned out.
Where is Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch, and is there parking?
Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is located right in front of Seokchon Lake. Eating here and then walking around the lake afterward would be perfect haha.
There's parking for about 5 cars in front of and beside the restaurant.
The weekday evening atmosphere at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch
Even on a weekday evening, Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch had a lot of people eating.

There were so many customers that it was hard to take detailed shots of the interior, so I didn't get many photos inside T_T. Living up to its reputation as a famous sundaeguk spot, it seemed like a lot of people come here.

What's on the menu at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch?
The menu board at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch had quite a variety of gukbap, from their signature sundaeguk to suyukguk, hangjeongsuyukguk, naejangguk, and ppyeohaejangguk.

With so many types of gukbap, it seemed easy to pick according to your taste. That day, we ordered what could be called the main menu — the sundae-hangjeongsuyuk set for 2 people. It came with sundae and pork jowl alongside the sundaeguk, which was perfect for us since we wanted to try a bit of everything haha.

Basic side dishes: kkakdugi, kimchi, chives, jeotgal
After ordering the sundae-hangjeongsuyuk set, the basic side dishes were set out one by one. Kkakdugi and kimchi, which go so well with gukbap, arrived, along with chives to add to the soup. Jeotgal (salted seafood) also came out, so I could season the gukbap to my taste.

The kkakdugi was crunchy and delicious, and the kimchi paired so well with the gukbap that I kept reaching for more haha.

As a chive lover, I was thrilled just seeing the chives haha. I love piling a generous amount of chives onto my gukbap, and since there was plenty, I could eat as much as I wanted.

How much food comes with the sundae-hangjeongsuyuk set for 2?
The sundae-hangjeongsuyuk set at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch came with a plate piled high with sundae and suyuk (boiled pork) — it looked hearty just from the visual haha.
The suyuk portion was more generous than expected, and it came with a big pile of chives too, making it feel even more filling. As a chive lover, I was so happy haha.

Trying the sundae and suyuk together with chives, the combination worked really well. We ordered 2 servings and the portion was quite generous, perfect for sharing between two people haha.

Tender pork jowl and glutinous rice sundae
I started with the tender pork jowl (hangjeongsuyuk) first. The meat was really soft and tender, so delicious haha.

It's tasty on its own, but dipping it lightly in the sauce gave it just the right seasoning, and I kept reaching for more. The color was so pale and appetizing too haha, absolutely delicious.

The sundae inside was glutinous rice sundae, so eating it together with chives was pure honey haha.

Boseung's meat-packed sundaeguk
While enjoying the pork jowl, the sundaeguk finally arrived.

I loaded on the chives generously haha.

What a gorgeous spread haha.

The sundaeguk at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch had quite a lot of sundae in it, and the meat was truly packed full haha. The portion was... really generous.

No matter how much I ate, more sundae and meat kept appearing — it really felt endless haha.

Scooping out the meat from the broth one piece at a time, dipping it in the sauce, and alternating with the pork jowl in between let me enjoy a variety of flavors, which I loved.

The combination of pork jowl and chives was especially, especially good haha.
Final thoughts on the sundae-hangjeongsuyuk set at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch
Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is satisfying whenever you visit craving a hearty, hot soup! The sundae-hangjeongsuyuk set we had this time had a perfect harmony of savory, tender pork jowl and deep, rich broth. The portion was generous and the composition solid enough to enjoy with two people, leaving us fully satisfied down to the last bite. We were practically bursting haha.
If you're looking for a proper gukbap spot in Bangi-dong or want to fill up on a hearty meal, I definitely recommend stopping by!
