We wanted proper pork in the Mohyeon area of Yongin, so the three of us headed to Daejisikdang Mohyeon (대지식당모현). This time we ordered three servings of Berkshire K pork belly (오겹살) plus egg custard, kimchi stew, and doenjang stew. Bottom line: the meat tasted noticeably different from a typical samgyeopsal joint. The texture and aroma really stood out, so if you're hunting for a good pork belly spot in Cheoin-gu, this one's worth knowing about.

Location and parking — is it close to Lakeside CC?
Daejisikdang Mohyeon sits at 1 Poeundae-ro 1139beon-gil, Mohyeon-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It's fairly close to Lakeside CC, so it's a good spot to eat after a round of golf nearby. There's dedicated parking right in front of the restaurant, which made driving there easy.
Stepping inside, I liked how clean and tidy the space felt for a meat restaurant. The spacing between tables felt reasonably generous too, so the three of us could sit comfortably and enjoy the meal. It's a setting that would suit a family outing or a meal with friends just as well. The staff were friendly, which made a great first impression.

Three servings of Berkshire K pork belly — how thick, how good?
Our main pick that day was Berkshire K pork belly. The three of us ordered three servings, and the moment the meat arrived, the thick cut and vivid color caught my eye first. I eat pork pretty often, and I could really tell the meat quality itself was different here. Getting to enjoy meat like this was the biggest reason I wanted to recommend this place as a pork belly spot in Cheoin-gu.

Service where staff grill the meat for you
What I loved most was that staff grilled the meat for us directly. Thick pork belly is easy to mess up — either the outside cooks while the inside stays raw, or it's grilled too long and loses all its juices — but here they cooked it to the perfect point, so all we had to do was wait and then enjoy it. Being able to just chat with everyone while eating was another thing that boosted how much I enjoyed Daejisikdang Mohyeon.

We first tried the golden-browned Berkshire K pork belly plain, without any sides. Chewing it, there was a nice balance of springiness and tenderness, and behind the savory fat came a pleasant meaty aroma. It was completely different from any off-putting smell — this was the real flavor of the meat itself, and the more you chewed, the more you tasted. I finally understood why people who care about good pork even pay attention to the breed.

The texture of the skin was also appealing. The well-grilled surface was savory and chewy, while juices remained inside, making it fun to eat piece by piece, slowly. This isn't meat you eat for the sauce — the meat itself is the star, which is exactly what I look for when hunting down a good pork belly spot in Cheoin-gu.

Melt sauce and grilled aged kimchi — the side pairings
There was a variety of sauces and sides served alongside, and the one I liked best by far was the melt sauce (fermented anchovy sauce). Honestly, it was just as memorable to me as the meat itself that day. It's salty with deep umami, and dipping the pork belly lightly into it pairs wonderfully with the fat's richness. A light dip rather than a heavy dunk was the sweet spot, and once I tried it, my chopsticks kept going back to it.

Being able to grill aged kimchi and bracken fern right on the plate was another nice touch. Rather than just eating pork belly on repeat, adding grilled aged kimchi in between brought in acidity and umami for a fresh combination. Mixing and matching different sides to your taste was part of the fun of eating meat at Daejisikdang Mohyeon.

Egg custard, kimchi stew, and doenjang stew round out the sides
We also ordered egg custard (계란찜). Warm and soft, it went well between bites of savory-sauced meat. Its fluffy texture offered a totally different feel from the meat, and it was easy for the three of us to share.

Instead of picking just one stew, we ordered both kimchi stew and doenjang stew. The kimchi stew hit the spot when we craved a spicy broth in between bites of meat, and the umami from the kimchi came through naturally in the broth. A hot spoonful followed by another bite of pork belly really woke up the appetite.

The doenjang stew had its own charm, distinct from the kimchi stew. The savory doenjang (fermented soybean paste) flavor anchored the meal, and it paired well with rice alongside the meat for a hearty finish. With three of us, ordering both stews and going back and forth between them worked out great. It was a meal where not just the meat but the sides too came together in nice balance.

The service throughout the meal was satisfying too. With staff grilling the meat for us, we didn't have to worry about how to properly cook the thick Berkshire K pork belly ourselves, and the friendly staff made it easy to relax and keep eating. Overall, the balance of atmosphere, service, taste, and friendliness left a great impression.

Who would enjoy this most
If meat quality is your top priority when picking a pork belly spot in Cheoin-gu, I think you'd be very satisfied here. The Berkshire K pork belly had a clear identity — from the texture with each bite, to the savory fat, to the subtle meaty aroma that lingered. Adding the melt sauce brought even more umami, bringing out the meat's appeal even further.
Daejisikdang Mohyeon offers a clean space to eat comfortably, plus parking, making it a good choice for a visit with family or friends. It also suits anyone looking for a place to eat near Lakeside CC, or craving proper pork on any given day.

This time, the three of us had a generous spread — three servings of Berkshire K pork belly plus egg custard, kimchi stew, and doenjang stew — and no single dish outshone the rest disproportionately. What stuck with me was the convenience of having the meat grilled for us, the noticeably different texture, the pleasant meaty aroma, and the melt sauce that paired perfectly with the pork belly. Among pork belly spots in Cheoin-gu, this is one I'll think of again when I want to really enjoy the flavor of the meat itself.
If you care about meat quality in Mohyeon, Yongin, I'd recommend trying the Berkshire K pork belly at Daejisikdang Mohyeon. With a comfortable atmosphere and friendly service on top, it was a satisfying meal from start to finish.
