Gangnam Station charcoal pork BBQ: ₩59,000 set for two at Giun
In short
Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch is a binchotan charcoal pork restaurant a 10-minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 4 in Seoul. Two women ordered the 59,000-won sulgiun ("tipsy") set — 200g of galbi samgyeopsal, 150g of hangjeongsal (pork jowl) and 150g of gabrisal (pork skirt) — and staff grilled every piece, right down to the gungchae jangajji (pickled stem lettuce) and grilled zucchini. Giun is the place for a day you want to be waited on without ever picking up the tongs.

Hi everyone! Today I want to introduce Giun, a great Gangnam BBQ spot where I didn't have to grill a single piece of meat from the moment I walked in until I left. Super satisfying service, and free corkage too — let me introduce Giun, a charcoal-grilled pork specialty restaurant near Gangnam Station^^

Inside Giun: private rooms and seating for up to 56
Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch looks compact from the outside, but it actually has a separate private room and can seat up to 56 people, so it'd be great for wedding invitation gatherings or company dinners.

With no meat on the menu besides pork, it really felt like a dedicated pork specialty spot, and I loved that the drink selection was so wide — soju, highball, beer, wine — so you can pair whatever suits your taste with the meat^^

Pork grilled over binchotan charcoal
At Giun near Gangnam Station, they burn binchotan charcoal, which apparently preserves its own aroma and infuses the meat with a signature scent, bringing out the best flavor. Something about the charcoal fire felt almost solemn — haha.

The 59,000-won sulgiun set: the right amount for two
If it's your first time at Giun, they say the Giun set is the recommended pick, but we were curious about the hangjeongsal and gabrisal here, so we went with the sulgiun set instead.

I like it when a BBQ place gives you lots of basic side dishes, but I like it even more when there are lots of vegetables. The gungchae jangajji (pickled sea cucumber peel) that you can only get here was especially delicious. That crunchy bite with a sweet-salty flavor — the texture was insane!!!
Sulgiun set ₩59,000 It looked like a small portion, but it was just the right amount for two adult women.
You don't need to know how to grill it. From now until you leave, you won't touch the tongs once — just pick up the meat with your chopsticks.

Galbi samgyeopsal, 200g
For the galbi samgyeopsal, they bring in bone-in pork belly, cut the bones off themselves with a bone cutter, and hand-fillet it before it's served. They serve it under this name because during aging, the bone and meat age together to deepen the flavor, and also because they wanted diners to taste the neukganssal (intercostal meat) between the ribs, which has a unique texture — that's how this dish came to be developed.

Honestly, it's hard to compare to any samgyeopsal I've had before. The combination of binchotan charcoal and galbi samgyeopsal is a flavor and aroma you can only get here — you really have to try it to understand, but if I had to sum it up in one word: so delicious!!!! haha
They plate the well-grilled samgyeopsal and tell you to try the first bite with nothing but a little salt — and somehow, dipped in just salt, it was so unbelievably good...

Once the galbi samgyeopsal is fully grilled, they grill the vegetables too, and wrapping the meat in the grilled veggies is really great. We finished off the scallions and shishito peppers in the garlic scape and soy sauce completely. Whenever a side dish ran low, the staff refilled it right away — little touches of service like this really raise the whole image of the restaurant^^
Hangjeongsal (pork jowl), 150g

They use a specially made grill with four sides of ochre clay, and the meat cooks so quickly on it — no long waits, and you get to eat right away, which I loved.

They lay the chewy, well-grilled hangjeongsal neatly to one side of the plate.

Hangjeongsal bursting with juice

Gabrisal (pork skirt meat), 150g

Last up on the grill: gabrisal. Moist yet with a springy bite, and thick-cut too, so it really delivered that satisfying meat-eating feeling haha.

Wrapped in myeongi namul (mountain garlic leaves) to cut the richness — how good could that possibly be~~~?

The grilled zucchini rounds it all off as the final touch among the vegetables. Seriously, why is grilled zucchini this good??? The meat was great, but even the grilled vegetables were delicious at Giun's Gangnam Station main branch.
Would I go back to a BBQ house where staff grill everything?
Today I introduced Giun, a charcoal-grilled pork specialty restaurant near Gangnam Station. There was none of that unfair situation you sometimes get at BBQ places where one person grills while everyone else eats — the skilled young staff grilled everything perfectly from start to finish, and I got to feel completely taken care of while eating really well, so I'd definitely recommend it!!
Eating so comfortably and feeling so well taken care of was great, so if you get the chance, I'd recommend checking out Giun near Gangnam Station^^
