Late 1pm pork BBQ lunch for two in Gyeongsan: Kkotdwaeji Gourmet Set
In short
Kkotdwaeji Sikdang Gyeongsan Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant where staff grill the pork for you, on the main road of the Oksan-dong bar district in Gyeongsan, on the first floor of the Sea Sauna building. Two of us came for a late lunch at 1pm and ordered the Gourmet Set (65,000 won), and staff grilled the pork belly, pork neck and pork jowl in the kitchen before plating them with garnish. Order the Gourmet Set before 5pm and a daechang (beef intestine) hot pot comes free, so even two people leave completely full.

There are a few good pork BBQ spots in Gyeongsan where we live, but this time we wanted to eat meat properly, so we went to Kkotdwaeji Sikdang Gyeongsan Branch.

Kkotdwaeji Sikdang Gyeongsan Branch sits over on the Oksan-dong bar street side of Gyeongsan, so it's easy to find — it's right on the main road, on the 1st floor of the Sea Sauna building.

If you go left around the building, you'll see a large parking lot behind it.

There's a large lot set up behind the restaurant, so we could visit without worrying about parking.
Most of all, we decided to enjoy meat leisurely without our daughter Ro-eun this time, so we went at the late lunch hour of around 1pm. Kkotdwaeji Sikdang opens relatively early for a BBQ restaurant, so it should work well for those of you who, like me, want to eat at a slightly more relaxed hour.
Inside Kkotdwaeji Sikdang: group tables and window seats

Some BBQ places have that distinctive greasy smell or a stuffy feel when you walk in, but Kkotdwaeji Sikdang Gyeongsan Branch was really clean and pleasant.
The spacious dining room has group seating too, and there's plenty of room, so it looked good not just for family meals out but also for gatherings or work dinners. There are separated spaces as well, so it looked comfortable for visiting with several people.
So if you're looking for a place for a group dinner in Gyeongsan, this part should be pretty satisfying too.
Since we'd made a reservation, they set us up with a window-side table, which was nice.
The menu and a look at the aged pork
I took a video of the menu so it's easy to browse — besides grilled meat there are various other dishes, so you can just pick whatever suits your taste.

What we ordered was the Gourmet Set, one of Kkotdwaeji's signature menus.
Once you order, the staff pull the meat straight out of the aging fridge and slice it in front of you! Preparing it in the open like that made it feel even more trustworthy.
Side dishes and the six sauces on the table
Kkotdwaeji Sikdang Gyeongsan Branch's table setting is a bit different from the usual BBQ place where meat just shows up on its own.

From geotjeori (fresh kimchi) to pickled onions and various side dishes, the table was set, and there was a really wide range of sauces to eat with the meat too. Salt, soybean powder, curry powder, ssamjang, salted seafood, wasabi and more — with so many sauces prepared, you could enjoy different flavors from the same meat depending on the combination.

It was fun to taste the meat on its own first, then switch sauces one by one.
The steamed egg that came as a service was also impressive — soft and jiggly like pudding, good to eat in between bites of meat. Looking at that, I couldn't help but think of Ro-eun again, haha. I definitely came out today thinking 'let's eat meat comfortably without the kid for once,' but seeing the steamed egg and the meat, I guess thinking of my kid first is just unavoidable.
The 65,000-won Gourmet Set: staff grill the pork for you

The Gourmet Set includes pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl and garnish! Kkotdwaeji Sikdang Gyeongsan Branch has a system where a meat expert grills the meat for you.

Before grilling, they show you the meat you ordered first, then the staff grills it in the back and brings it out to you.
And finally, the Gourmet Set arrived.

When I first saw the meat, I couldn't help but think, 'wait, is this a steak?' haha

It's not just meat that comes out — it's plated with garnish too, so it looks totally different from the usual BBQ restaurant visual.

Grilling meat well is honestly kind of a stressful job. It was nice not having to worry about that at all and just being able to focus on the meal — enjoying the spread and chatting while the meat gets grilled for you. If you're the type who finds grilling your own meat a hassle while hunting for a good BBQ restaurant in Gyeongsan, this system will probably feel like a big advantage.

Free daechang hot pot when you come before 5pm
And if you visit before 5pm and order the Gourmet Set, they give you the Fukuoka-style daechang hot pot as a free service — something that costs ₩30,000 à la carte!!
It really comes out generously — you can't quite tell the size of the pot from a photo, right?
It's about 1.5 times the size of an adult man's hand ~ the portion was way bigger than expected.
The daechang hot pot broth wasn't too spicy or strong — more the kind of thing that's nice to pair alongside the meat — and the deep broth flavor was the kind that calls for soju. With daechang in it, it also worked well as something to finish off the meal with.

The Gourmet Set itself already had tender, tasty meat, and having it grilled for us on top of that made things easy — plus the tasty hot pot was a free service, and they even gave us a bandana towel for ordering the set, so the service overall was satisfying.
I didn't expect the two of us to be able to eat this full, haha. If you want to eat generously, I personally recommend the Gourmet Set 😋
Final verdict on Kkotdwaeji Sikdang Gyeongsan Branch
Kkotdwaeji Sikdang Gyeongsan Branch reportedly uses top 20%-grade selected domestic Korean pork. Another feature is that the menu is composed so you can enjoy pork and beef byproducts in various forms all in one place.

Besides the signature Gourmet Set, there's the Kkotdwaeji Set, Yangdaechang (beef tripe/intestine) Set, Kkotdwaeji assorted grill, yangdaechang assorted grill, aged pork belly, premium pork neck, and more... If you're looking for pork belly in Gyeongsan in particular, the aged pork belly or the set menus where you can enjoy multiple cuts together are worth checking out.

If you've never liked being too busy grilling your own meat to actually enjoy your meal at a BBQ restaurant, this is worth trying at least once. If you're looking for a clean, pleasant BBQ restaurant in Gyeongsan with a wide range of side dishes and sauces to enjoy, give Kkotdwaeji Sikdang Gyeongsan Branch a visit.
