Ocean-view café in Gangneung for rooftop desserts: Baegya Coffee

During my trip to Gangneung, I stopped by Baegya Coffee (백야커피) to enjoy coffee and desserts while looking at the sea. With ocean views from several floors and a wide bakery selection, it was a nice place to take a break and share menu items with my group.

Where is Baegya Coffee, and is parking convenient?

The address is 607 Haean-ro, Gangneung-si, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, South Korea, on the first through third floors. The hours listed in the original post were 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, with last orders at 8:30 p.m.

Parking was divided between the first and second floors. There were some spaces in front of the café, and I parked comfortably in the large open lot on the second floor. It was also convenient that I could enter the café area directly from the second-floor parking lot.

Where do you order and pick up?

I could order, pick up drinks and desserts, and return items after use all on the first floor. With the necessary steps gathered in one place, it did not feel difficult to use even on a first visit.

I first chose from the menu on the first floor, collected my drinks and desserts, then went up to the floor where I wanted to sit.

What are the sea-view seats like?

What spaces are on the second and third floors?

The second floor had table seating and a terrace, making it a good place to have coffee and dessert while looking at the sea. The restroom and parking lot were on the same floor, which made getting around convenient.

The third floor also had table seating, a terrace, and a restroom. The higher viewpoint gave the same sea a slightly different feel from the second floor. I could enjoy the view indoors, or go out to the terrace if the weather was good.

Both the second- and third-floor terraces were operated as no-kids zones. Each floor had a self-service bar, and phone charging service was also freely available.

How does the sea look from the rooftop?

The rooftop felt open because there were fewer elements blocking the view than when looking at the sea from indoors. It was a space where I could take in both the sky and the sea.

Following the sky stairs from the third floor led to the rooftop. This area was also operated as a no-kids zone. On a good-weather day, it seemed like a nice place to take photos with the sea as a backdrop or feel the sea breeze.

What drink and bakery choices are available?

There was a wide variety of drinks, and I was glad to see ice cream as well. Bread, sweet desserts, and cakes were prepared on the first floor, so I spent quite a while looking around before choosing.

There were choices ranging from bread to have simply with coffee to desserts, so it was easy to choose according to my taste.

What were the desserts I tried like in taste and texture?

That day, I chose Sangha Farm ice cream, condensed milk pie, keurungji (a croissant-and-nurungji snack), and longgronggeu. Sharing them with my group was nice because I could compare the flavors and textures of several items.

What were the ice cream and longgronggeu like?

The Sangha Farm ice cream was smooth and clean-tasting. It felt relatively refreshing to my palate, so it was good for sharing alongside the other desserts.

Longgronggeu was an item I was curious about because of its unusual name. Among the desserts I chose, it stayed with me as a fun way to try something different.

Did the condensed milk pie and keurungji go well with coffee?

The condensed milk pie combined crisp pastry with sweet condensed milk, making it good alongside coffee. I kept reaching for it because of the pastry texture and sweetness.

I also liked the crisp texture of keurungji, which combines a croissant with nurungji (scorched rice). It was good as a snack with coffee. This visit stayed with me for both the break overlooking the sea and the fun of sharing several desserts.
