Gangneung café for a family birthday cake: Baegya Coffee

During a family trip to Gangneung, I stopped by Baegya Coffee (백야커피) for coffee. It was a large café with many kinds of bread and mini cakes, and I liked that I could see the sea from every floor.

Where is Baegya Coffee, and was parking easy?

The address is 607 Haean-ro, Gangneung-si, on floors 1 through 3. There was parking directly in front of the café and a dedicated lot behind the building, so parking was not difficult when I visited.

The hours listed when I visited were 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, with last orders at 8:30 PM.

What kinds of bread and cake were available?

The display case held many kinds of bread. I thought it would be better to come in the morning if you want to choose before the bread sells out.

There were also many kinds of mini cakes. The tiramisu in a cup caught my eye, and the cakes looked so pretty that I had trouble deciding which one to choose.

There were several kinds of financiers, and they could be wrapped as gifts.

Which floors have sea views?

I could see the sea from the first through third floors. The tables faced the windows, so every table could enjoy the view, and I thought it would be nice to bring a book to read.

There was plenty of seating on the third floor as well. I thought the sea looked better from higher up, and with so many tables, it seemed like a good stop during a group trip too.

Can children use the outdoor terrace?

There was an outdoor terrace on the second floor where you could have tea while looking at the sea, but this area was a no-kids zone.

I also went up to the rooftop outdoor terrace. The open sea stretched out before me, and I thought it would be nice to have tea outside once the weather became a little cooler.

It was cloudy on the day I visited. I was worried because heavy rain had been forecast nationwide, but fortunately Gangneung did not get much rain. The sea view was still nice on a cloudy day, though I think it would have been even better on a clear day.

Can you warm bread or pack up leftovers?

Cold drinking water was available. There was also a microwave for warming bread and a self-packing station where I could pack up leftover bread myself.

How much were drinks and ice cream?

These are the menu prices I noted at the time of my visit. Café latte, vanilla latte, and cappuccino each had two prices listed, but the original post does not distinguish which option each price applied to.

What was the corn cream shot latte like?

I ordered a corn cream shot latte, an iced Americano, tiramisu, and chocolate cake. The tiramisu was topped with a cherry.

It was my first time trying a corn cream shot latte. I was told it was coffee to drink without stirring it, and it was sweet with a corn aroma—unusual and delicious.

My child happened to have a birthday during our trip, so we used a small mini cake as a birthday cake. Having coffee and cake while looking at the sea in the spacious, tidy café remains memorable.
