Korean restaurant in Goyang for seaweed soup meals: Haenon Miyeok
In short
Haenon Miyeok Ilsan Direct Branch is a Korean restaurant in Aenigol, Goyang, where I had beef seaweed soup and spicy stir-fried pork set meals with my children. The hot soup, refillable hijiki rice, and side dishes made for a satisfying family meal, though the seasoned flounder was too spicy for my younger child.

For a weekend family meal, I visited Haenon Miyeok Ilsan Direct Branch (해논미역 일산직영점) in Aenigol, Ilsan, with my children. My children, who usually like seaweed soup, finished a bowl each, while I had a filling meal with spicy stir-fried pork and several side dishes.
Where is it, and what are the parking and hours?
The address is 30 Aenigol-gil, Ilsandong-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi, South Korea (경기 고양시 일산동구 애니골길 30 지,1층), and parking is available. The hours listed in the original post are daily from 11:00 to 21:00. There is a weekday break from 15:00 to 17:00, with no break on weekends.
What was the atmosphere like for a meal with children?
The exterior gave a tidy impression from the start. Inside, it was clean and refined, making it comfortable for a family meal, and I thought it would also suit a special dining occasion.
Which set meals did we order?
They sold a range of seaweed soups. We ordered the beef seaweed soup set meal and the Haenon spicy stir-fried pork set meal. We wanted something spicy alongside the seaweed soup that the children like.
Can you get more rice and side dishes?
The side dishes were brought out first, and afterward we could take as much more as we wanted from the self-service bar. I especially liked the cockle salad and went back for it several times.
The spicy stir-fried pork came with several side dishes and was generously portioned. Instead of plain white rice, it came with mild, nutty hijiki rice. The hijiki rice was also available with unlimited refills.
Which side dishes did the children enjoy, and which was spicy?
We started with the salad. The children especially enjoyed the japchae (stir-fried glass noodles). It was mildly seasoned and simple, so we refilled it several times.
The eggplant tangsuyuk and cockle salad suited my taste. I kept reaching for the cockle salad in particular because of its tangy, spicy seasoning.
The flounder was coated in a sauce that reminded me of Korean seasoned fried chicken. I enjoyed it, but it was slightly spicy, so it was difficult for my younger child to eat.
How were the seasoning and texture of the spicy stir-fried pork?
The spicy stir-fried pork included large pieces of onion and carrot. The seasoning was spicy without being overwhelming for me, and its savory flavor made it good to mix with rice.
The meat was tender rather than tough. We shared it with the children and quickly finished a bowl of rice.
Did the beef seaweed soup suit the children?
Beef seaweed soup is the seaweed soup my children like best because we often have it at home as well. It arrived bubbling in a ttukbaegi (earthenware pot).
It did not cool down easily while we ate, so we enjoyed it warm through to the end.
The seaweed was not overly soft; it was tender with some chew left. Perilla seed powder gave the broth a nutty flavor, and because it was not strongly seasoned, the children ate it well too.
We had a filling meal of seaweed soup and several side dishes in a clean setting. It was a shame that the flounder was too spicy for my younger child, but the children enjoyed the seaweed soup and japchae, so I was satisfied with it as a family meal. I would like to return when we want a warm meal with the children.
