Korean restaurant in Goyang for seaweed soup: Haenon Miyeok
In short
Haenon Miyeok Ilsan Direct Branch is a Korean restaurant in Aenigol, Pung-dong, Goyang, where I had flatfish seaweed soup and spicy stir-fried pork set meals. The mild, deeply flavored soup, boneless flatfish, and varied self-service side dishes made for a filling lunch, though the price may feel a little high.

At Haenon Miyeok Ilsan Direct Branch (해논미역 일산직영점) in Aenigol, Pung-dong, Ilsan, I had the flatfish seaweed soup set meal and the spicy stir-fried pork set meal. I wondered whether ordering seaweed soup out would feel special, but the soup in a large earthenware bowl and the neatly arranged side dishes made it a filling meal.
Is the space suitable for parking and family meals?
The parking lot in front of the restaurant was spacious. There was plenty of room, so I felt even new drivers could use it relatively comfortably.
The interior was clean and well organized. The atmosphere seemed well suited to a family meal or bringing parents along.
How did the flatfish seaweed soup and spicy pork work together?
Rather than ladling out soup that has been prepared in advance, this restaurant cooks its seaweed soup when you order. We ordered the flatfish seaweed soup set meal and the spicy stir-fried pork set meal, and I liked the side dishes that arrived first.
How were the seasoning and portion of the flatfish seaweed soup?
The flatfish seaweed soup came in a large earthenware bowl, with a generous portion. The broth was not salty; it was mild but had a deep flavor.
The flatfish was boneless, so it was easy to scoop up with the soup without picking out bones.
I also enjoyed the rice that came with it.
What was it like to order spicy stir-fried pork alongside it?
The je-yuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork) was sweet and spicy, making it good to alternate with the mild seaweed soup. The seasoning had a savory depth, and the portion of meat was generous. If two people visit, it is a combination worth ordering together.
What side dishes were at the self-service bar?
The side dishes were especially memorable during this meal. Having several dishes alongside the food made the table feel like a Korean set banquet meal.
The self-service bar beside the entrance had sweet-and-sour eggplant, salad, and assorted seasoned vegetables. I could freely take more of the side dishes I wanted, and the sweet-and-sour eggplant was especially good.
At the time of my visit, fried flatfish was served as a complimentary item when ordering for two or more people. The crisp fried fish made the table feel even more generous.
Unlimited rice refills were also available. However, the initial portions of soup and side dishes were large, so rather than eating a lot of rice from the start, I think it is better to leave room to enjoy the side dishes as well.
What leftover soup takeaway and visit benefits were available?
Leftovers could be packed to take away only for the seaweed soup.
When the original post was written, a ₩1,000 Naver Place reservation discount coupon, events for pregnant guests and birthday guests, and a review event were listed. The original post did not state the detailed eligibility conditions.
Was it a satisfying meal considering the price?
The price may feel a little high. Still, considering the neat side dishes and generous amount of soup, I found it a satisfying lunch. I left feeling full, and next time I would like to come with my parents.
