Wonseo-dong brunch restaurant facing Changdeokgung: Debbie's
In short
Debbie's (데비스) is a brunch restaurant in Wonseo-dong, Jongno, Seoul, set in a converted 60-year-old Western-style house beside the Changdeokgung Palace wall and run by a designer from the fashion brand Andy & Debb. At Debbie's we ordered the Chipotle Benedict, Champignon Tagliatelle and non-alcoholic mimosas, and both the food and the Changdeokgung view from the second-floor window were satisfying. Brunch mains at Debbie's cost ₩20,000–30,000, not cheap, but worth it for the palace view and the atmosphere.

Today's pick is a brunch spot near Anguk Station with an absolutely amazing Changdeokgung view through the window! It's Debbie's (Debbis). Let me introduce this restaurant in Wonseo-dong, right by Changdeokgung Palace!
Debbie's is an Anguk brunch café run by a designer from the fashion brand Andy & Debb! Maybe that's why the space itself, a renovated 60-year-old Western-style house, is so stylish. Below I'll review the space, the menu, what we ordered, and some tips on using the room, in detail!
Debbie's near Anguk Station: address and basics

Debbie's is at 45 Changdeokgung-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, in Wonseo-dong. ※ Opening hours and reservation policy may change, so I recommend checking once more before you visit.
What are the exterior and interior of Debbie's like?

Debbie's is a two-story Western-style house right next to the Changdeokgung wall. You can tell at a glance that the building is old, and that look is stylish in its own way.

Both the first and second floors are open to diners, and the East-meets-West mix gives it a unique feel. The first floor looks out on the palace wall!

The Changdeokgung view from the second-floor window
The Changdeokgung view from the second-floor window at Debbie's really looks like a picture frame. The palace sits perfectly inside the window frame, and I thought I was looking at a painting. It was so pretty that after the meal we ended up wandering around Changdeokgung and Changgyeonggung, which wasn't even in our plans, haha! If you're looking for a restaurant near Changdeokgung, I'd recommend Debbie's!

The second floor also has terrace seats. As a true Changdeokgung-view restaurant, I really recommend Debbie's in Anguk.
What's on the menu at Debbie's, and how much?

The signature items at Debbie's are on the brunch side.

In the evening, Debbie's also has a variety of wines and dinner courses. The chef's Ox-tail Bourguignon is said to be the signature dish. Brunch mains run about ₩20,000–30,000, so it's not a light price, but the view and atmosphere back it up, and the food was genuinely delicious!
What we ordered at Debbie's

At Debbie's we ordered the Chipotle Benedict, the Champignon Tagliatelle, and two non-alcoholic mimosas.

Chipotle Benedict

The Chipotle Benedict at Debbie's is built on eggs Benedict, and the chipotle sauce adds a slightly spicy, exotic touch.

Eggs Benedict with chipotle sauce is a great combo. The fillings inside are really simple, and it's still this good, so the chef must be really skilled!

Champignon Tagliatelle

The Champignon Tagliatelle at Debbie's is a button mushroom cream sauce pasta, and the seasoning is just perfectly judged. I worried a cream pasta might feel heavy, but it wasn't heavy at all and I cleaned the plate.

The hearty Champignon Tagliatelle and the Chipotle Eggs Benedict make a great pairing!

Non-alcoholic mimosa

I ordered the mimosa non-alcoholic at Debbie's, and it's fresh and sweet, easy to drink.

After the meal it's almost like a sherbet, so you can have it as a dessert too. A p-e-r-f-e-c-t finish.
Who Debbie's suits, and what to know before you go
A brunch with a Changdeokgung view! I really recommend Debbie's when you want a relaxed meal. The weather's lovely these days, so I think it'd be great to stroll around the palace first and then come to eat near Changgyeonggung.
Besides what I ate, Debbie's is also famous for its French toast! Next time I'd like to come in the evening and try the wine and Debbie's signature dinner. The staff kept coming by to look after us, so I was happy with the service too.
One thing to know in advance: if you book Debbie's room, there's a separate charge (₩600,000).
