I wanted a weekend brunch somewhere with a good atmosphere, so I headed to Debbie's, a date-worthy spot near Anguk Station! There are lots of pretty cafés and restaurants around Anguk Station, but this time I wanted something a little more special, haha. Brunch with a view of Changdeokgung Palace? Walk along the palace wall and you can't miss its red, European-looking exterior! You get the quiet, calm mood of Bukchon together with the palace scenery, so it works really well as a date course around Anguk Station.

Debbie's is well known as a brunch restaurant made by a designer from the fashion brand ANDY&DEBB (앤디앤뎁). Maybe that's why I could feel a stylish mood all around the space. Warm wood tones and refined interior details blended together, and it felt like stepping into a pretty family home, a vibe that suits Anguk perfectly.

Can you see Changdeokgung Palace from Debbie's?

The Changdeokgung view is the main reason I liked Debbie's even more! The calm Bukchon atmosphere and the palace scenery came together so well that I briefly forgot I was in Seoul, haha. Brunch with a view like this? I immediately understood why people looking for an Anguk Station date course love it.

Debbie's signature mimosa with rose-shaped ice

The signature cocktail: Debbie's rose-ice mimosa

Before the food arrived, I ordered the signature cocktail, the mimosa (₩15,000)! The yellow rose-shaped ice in the glass is so pretty, right? There was no way I wasn't taking photos, haha. The fresh orange aroma with the sparkling wine was really good, and it went well with the brunch dishes too. It's light and refreshing, so even people who like daytime drinking can enjoy it without feeling heavy.

Debbie's Benedict on its own plate

Debbie's Benedict: the dish to order on a first visit

The first dish I tried was Debbie's own eggs Benedict, Debbie's Benedict (₩25,000). It comes on a Debbie's-only plate, and I thought, wow, ANDY&DEBB really has pull.. haha. It's the signature dish so my expectations were high, and there's a reason it's popular.

Debbie's Benedict topped with hollandaise sauce

The nutty richness and gentle tang of the hollandaise balanced nicely and it was easy to eat, and breaking the soft-cooked egg and eating it together made it even better. If you like brunch, you'll be happy with this one! If it's your first visit, I'd recommend ordering it, haha.

A plate of Debbie's flounder meunière

Flounder meunière: a proper main course at a brunch bistro

Debbie's flounder meunière (광어 뫼니에르) is made the French meunière way: the flounder is lightly dusted with flour and pan-fried golden in butter, so the outside is crisp while the inside stays moist and tender. I loved the contrast!

The mild flounder with rich butter flavor spread softly with every bite, and it tasted luxurious and delicious! It paired really well with wine or the mimosa too. I'd assumed a brunch restaurant would only have light dishes, so a main this well made left me even happier, haha.

Champignon tagliatelle in button mushroom cream sauce

Champignon tagliatelle: what does champignon mean?

The champignon tagliatelle (₩26,000) is a button mushroom cream sauce pasta. I wondered, what's champignon? Apparently it's French for button mushroom. The cream sauce made with fresh mushrooms was thick and rich, and the tagliatelle noodles held the sauce well, so every bite was full of flavor. If you like Korean-style mushroom cream pasta (버크파), this one's for you!
