Weekend indoor zoo in Dongtan: leopard feeding times at Artis

Artis Theme Park is an indoor zoo and hands-on theme park on the 9th floor of Sinyu Medi Plaza in Dongtan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. On a weekend, the writer, her husband and their daughter waited about 15 minutes to get into Artis Theme Park, then touched a lizard, tried doctor fish, fed rays, guinea pigs, hamsters and parakeets, and collected every stamp to earn a badge. Verdict: Artis Theme Park is a highly recommended cool indoor summer outing with kids in Dongtan.

Dongtan shabu kalguksu even my noodle-averse husband loved: Deungchon

The writer had clear-broth shabu kalguksu there for a weekend lunch with her husband and daughter, finishing with dumplings and fried rice, and her husband, who doesn't usually enjoy kalguksu, said it was delicious and finished the fried rice too. With a clear broth that suits kids and friendly service, Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Gran Passage Branch is a solid pick for a weekend family meal in Dongtan.

Siheung duck BBQ: a couple's late Sunday lunch, Grill Duck

They finished it with complimentary duck soup and self-bar vegetables. The writer found both the raw duck and the jumulleok clean-tasting with no gamey smell and plans to return to Grill Duck.

Hippo Burger Woonwon City is a handmade burger shop on basement level 1 of Alice Ville in Luwon City, Gajeong-dong, Seohae, Incheon, where the buns, patties and sauces are made in-house. For a family dinner with a child, the blogger ordered the Hippo Burger set (12,800 won) and the Original Chicken Burger set (10,400 won), switching the side to hash browns, which the child also enjoyed. 24-Hour Sopuri Yangpyeong Haejangguk is a 24-hour Korean gukbap (rice soup) restaurant inside Yeonan Pier General Fish Market in Jemulpo, Incheon, across from Mammoth Raw Fish Center. On a Saturday lunch visit, a family of three with a child ordered 2 bowls of beef head gukbap, which has a mild, seolleongtang-like broth and plenty of meat, and they finished every drop. With a large parking lot behind the building, a free bottled-water fridge and a self-serve bar for seonji (congealed ox blood) and side dishes, 24-Hour Sopuri is a good place to eat when you stop by Yeonan Pier.
