Hapjeong mala shabu-shabu with Kirin beer by the window: Nahonsha
In short
Nahonsha (나혼샤) is a solo-dining shabu-shabu restaurant on Dongmak-ro in Mapo, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Hapjeong Station. After work, the writer ordered mala shabu with extra vegetables and a Kirin draft beer, and found the mala broth (served without peanut sauce) with fresh vegetables and meat more satisfying than Haidilao. With shabu-shabu from ₩14,900, Nahonsha is a reasonably priced, genuinely tasty solo shabu-shabu spot near Hapjeong Station.

Everyone, I'm sharing a seriously good shabu-shabu place!!! Nahonsha does shabu-shabu for one, so eating solo is easy, but honestly the taste matters more than any convenience here. It was a touching flavor,, If you've been looking for a shabu-shabu spot near Hapjeong Station, you really have to go to Nahonsha. The price is reasonable too.

How much is shabu-shabu at Nahonsha?

Shabu-shabu at Nahonsha starts at ₩14,900 and sukiyaki starts at ₩16,900. Shabu-shabu feels a bit healthy and upscale, right? Since it includes meat, prices tend to run higher,, but Nahonsha near Hapjeong Station charges this much, which is a great price for shabu lovers.

My after-work solo order: mala shabu with extra vegetables and Kirin draft beer
At Nahonsha I got mala shabu with extra vegetables! And since I came after work, I couldn't resist a draft beer, so I ordered a Kirin draft beer haha I also asked for minced garlic and Cheongyang chili peppers (spicy green chilies). (But I think I didn't need the extra vegetables! The portion was already plenty.)
Settings already prepared at every seat

Every seat at Nahonsha was already set up.

Water, cups, small dipping dishes and sauces are all set out already, so you can eat comfortably right where you sit.

After you order and wait a moment, they bring out the vegetables and meat. The vegetables look great, but doesn't the meat look so good too? The amount was plenty for eating alone!

These are the extra vegetables haha
Staff pour the mala broth, but you turn on the induction burner yourself

At Nahonsha, the staff pour the broth for you and then leave. I ordered mala shabu, so they poured mala broth. You have to turn on the induction burner yourself!
Such a happy view,, Since I was eating solo, I sat at a window seat for one, and the flowering trees made the view so nice. It's a mood-lifting kind of happiness.
You mix your own sauces, and if you like minced garlic and Cheongyang chili peppers, definitely ask for them separately haha

How did the mala shabu at Nahonsha taste?
Nahonsha's mala shabu isn't a mala tang (spicy Sichuan-style soup) with peanut sauce in it; you cook shabu-shabu in mala broth, which suited what I wanted that day better. I tossed in the vegetables and added the meat at my own pace, and it was seriously so delicious.

Dipping the vegetables and meat in a sauce that suits your own taste is heaven. There's less sauce variety than Haidilao, but maybe thanks to the broth and the freshness of the ingredients, my overall satisfaction was higher. Really... it was more satisfying.
The vegetables and mushrooms were all super fresh. It seems they don't do broth refills, but plenty of vegetable stock came out, so I didn't ask for one either.

(The thing that looks like frozen tofu is fish cake!) Instead of extra vegetables, I think adding porridge and stir-frying it would have been good too! Doing both would be way too much food.

Nahonsha is a 5-minute walk from Hapjeong Station, but it was hot that day ㅠㅠ even though it's close, I got a bit warm walking there. I ordered a Kirin draft beer and gulped it down, and it went down so smoothly and tasted great.
Inside Nahonsha: tables for 2 and 4, and powerful air conditioning

Nahonsha is a great shabu-shabu spot for eating alone, but it also has tables for 2 and 4, so it's fine to visit with company too. And maybe because it's food you keep boiling as you eat, the inside was really cool. ❄️ Air conditioning blasting 🧊

Above all, the plant décor feels so nice. There are also baskets where you can keep your belongings. So thoughtful ✨
Who is Nahonsha near Hapjeong Station right for?
Nahonsha near Hapjeong Station is a pleasant, healthy meal whether you go for lunch or dinner. What impressed me most was how varied the customers' ages were. From older folks to young students, it really ran the whole range. That's only possible at a real hit that tastes good to everyone regardless of taste haha
