Honey-dipped pizza and spicy penne in Hongdae: Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza
In short
Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza is a handmade wood-fired pizza restaurant on Dokmak-ro 7-gil, between Hapjeong and Sangsu stations in Mapo, Seoul. Booking through Naver first, the writer ordered the Quattro Stagioni at 26,000 won, the Gamberi Piccante Penne at 18,500 won and an orange ade, and dipping the pizza in the honey served free with every table doubled its nutty richness. Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza is a good choice when you want a proper Western-style meal of pizza, pasta and ade in one sitting.

Today I want to introduce a Hongdae pizza spot I visited recently! I really love wood-fired pizza and this place was so good. The dough was chewy and the pasta was delicious too — let me tell you all about it.

Where is Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza, and what are its hours and parking?
Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza is a wood-fired pizza restaurant near Hapjeong Station. It's open from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM, closed every Tuesday. I booked ahead through Naver and then visited. There's no parking at the restaurant, so I found a nearby public parking lot and parked there before heading in.

Inside Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza: the dining room
The inside of Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza is clean and nicely decorated! It'd be great to come with friends or for a date, and I think it'd work fine for solo dining too, haha. Takeout orders are also available!

What we ordered at Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza and what it cost
Today we ordered the Quattro Stagioni for ₩26,000, the Gamberi Piccante Penne for ₩18,500, and an orange ade! There's a good variety of pasta and wood-fired pizzas so you can pick whatever suits your taste — everything on the menu looks delicious. I'd recommend ordering pasta, pizza, and an ade together, haha — that combo is amazing!

Free handmade pickles and honey with every table
The handmade pickles and honey arrived first! The pickles can be refilled, and the honey is there because, well, you have to dip your wood-fired pizza in it, right? ~>~

Quattro Stagioni: four flavors on one pizza
Our wood-fired pizza arrived. Doesn't it look amazing? It comes with Quattro Formaggi, Margherita, Diavola, and Croccante all on one pizza — a popular menu item that lets you try the best flavors at once! You have to eat it right away while it's fresh — the cheese stretches so much.

They start making the wood-fired pizza the moment you order, so the cheese was stretchy and it was piping hot, hahaha. It looks amazing even just in photos! Looking at these pictures makes me want to eat it again, haha.

What the pizza tastes like dipped in honey
Dipping it in honey makes it twice as delicious! The cheese itself is really rich and nutty, and since they use natural mozzarella, it tastes even richer. The dough is also handmade and fermented for 72 hours, apparently — so it's wonderfully chewy!

The Margherita was also really good — the tomato flavor came through strong. They said the tomato sauce is made in-house! And it's baked at over 400°C in an oven made from Mount Vesuvius volcanic stone from Italy — how could that not taste good? ~>~

Gamberi Piccante Penne, ordered with spaghetti noodles
Gamberi Piccante Penne, ₩18,500 — we also ordered this tomato-based pasta. It's got plump shrimp in it and is piled high with cheese on top! This pasta actually goes into the wood-fired oven briefly to melt the cheese, haha.

It's got mushrooms and plump shrimp, and the tomato flavor is really strong! By the way, we chose spaghetti noodles, but you can pick either spaghetti or penne! The portion was seriously generous too.

Eating pizza and pasta together made me feel like I'd finally had a proper Western-style meal after a long time — it put me in a great mood, and the atmosphere of the restaurant made it feel like a real date! Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza has such a cozy vibe, I really recommend visiting and trying it for yourself.

The orange ade
The ade was sweet and delicious too! It paired really well with the wood-fired pizza. I highly recommend the refreshing orange ade — they had a good variety of ades to choose from as well.
