Today I'm introducing a great Bundang BBQ place, Jeju Monteurak! It's a black pork specialist with a grilling service, so you can just focus on eating, which makes it perfect for company dinners or family gatherings too, haha. Above all, the meat quality is so good that I've been back several times. Okay, here's my honest Jeju Monteurak review~

Jeju-themed exterior of Jeju Monteurak

The exterior, full of Jeju vibes (Jeju being the home of black pork), announces from far away that this is a black pork specialist, haha.

The inside of Jeju Monteurak is very spacious, but partitions split it up nicely so it feels private. There are also lots of tables that seat 8 at once, so it looked like a really good place for a group dinner. The soft lighting and the classy black-toned interior felt quite different from an ordinary BBQ place, haha.

The restroom is inside the restaurant too, which was convenient!

What's on the Jeju Monteurak menu?

The menu is split broadly into black pork and white pork. Since it's a Bundang BBQ restaurant, there's a wide range of meat, and the white pork side even has special cuts like hangjeongsal (pork jowl) and galmaegisal (pork skirt)! Sides like gogi guksu (pork noodle soup) and naengmyeon (cold noodles) are well stocked too, so you have plenty of choices for a finishing meal, haha.

Side dishes at Jeju Monteurak and a tip for grilling gosari (fernbrake)

The side dishes were a flashy lineup, as you'd expect from a top Bundang BBQ place. Gosari (fernbrake), scallion salad, lettuce wraps, white kimchi, myeongi-namul (wild garlic greens), salted shrimp and pickled garlic scapes: all great with the meat. Personally, I found the seasoned fernbrake tastes even better if you lightly grill it over low heat after you've finished cooking the meat!

Our aged black pork belly arrived! Because it's aged, the meat glistened and had a vivid pinkish-red color, and just looking at it I thought, this place really knows its meat. A whole asparagus spear and king oyster mushroom come out with it too.

Sunae Station BBQ where they grill for you: Jeju Monteurak

I hadn't seen my close friend in a long time and wanted to focus on talking, and since Jeju Monteurak's grilling service is free, we could just relax and focus on the meal and our conversation. They even grilled the vegetables so well, haha.

Juicy pork belly, grilled with care piece by piece by the staff!! They move it to the side of the grill for you like this, so all I had to do was eat happily. True to samgyeopsal (pork belly), you get a wonderfully varied texture and flavor from the skin layer to the fat to the lean meat. That springy bounce is a one-of-a-kind texture you only get from aged meat.

Dipping black pork belly in Jeju-style meljeot (anchovy sauce)

It's good with scallion salad or lettuce wraps, but the salty, funky Jeju-style meljeot (salted anchovy dip) that keeps you reaching for more was also delicious. It's packed with garlic, so you get a spicy kick too. Honestly the meat is on another level.. haha, it's our little secret that it's tasty even on its own~

Jeju Monteurak's gogi guksu: a side with thick slices of pork

The gogi guksu I ordered as a side came in a nostalgic aluminum pot, loaded with meat and noodles!!! Usually a side like this barely has any meat, but Jeju Monteurak's sides are excellent too. The broth was so deep and the thickly sliced meat went down so tender that I wanted to come just for this on its own.

Next to the counter, they thoughtfully have candy, gum and even mouthwash ready! There's also a breath checker, so try it for fun and take what suits your reading?! It seems like fun to do with friends, family or whoever you came with, haha.

Jeju Monteurak, the BBQ place at Sunae Station in Bundang! I've lost count of how many times I've been back; it's seriously a delicious BBQ spot, haha. It's an aged black pork specialist where you can just relax and enjoy the meat.
