How about an escape room as an offbeat date in Uijeongbu?
Exit Escape Room Cafe is an escape room café in Uijeongbu where you can spend 60 packed, fun minutes. Among things to do in Uijeongbu, I think an escape room is one of those date ideas that never gets boring, haha. I had taken a break from them for a while, but once I started again I fell head over heels, so this time I went to Exit.

Instead of the usual dinner, café and movie date, how about an escape room this week? It's a place where you can spend 60 packed, fun minutes!
Where is Exit Escape Room Cafe, and is it easy to find?
Exit in Uijeongbu is on the 4th floor of the building at 22 Haengbok-ro. It's easy to find and visible from far away, so even first-timers shouldn't have trouble. I've walked around this area a ton but only ever looked at the ground floor, so I never even knew there was an escape room café here... Once you know it, you can head straight there whenever you're looking for something new to do, haha.

Can you do the horror themes if you hate scary things?
Unlike other things to do in Uijeongbu, Exit is an escape room café with a creepy feel that suits summer. Every theme has a chill to it, so it's perfect for this time of year, haha. I really can't stand scary stuff... but nothing like a ghost jumps out at you, so I figured it would actually be fun and gave it a shot!

Exit escape room prices and how to get discounts
Exit costs ₩20,000 per adult, and you can pay with the Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon too. So even if the price of escape rooms usually made you hesitate, you can try it! ₩20,000 might feel pricey, but once you try an escape room you'll be hooked and won't be able to get out, hahaha. Still, there are so many ways to get a discount that you can enjoy it without worry.

The reason I recommend Exit as a thing to do in Uijeongbu is that before 1 p.m. on weekdays you get ₩10,000 off per team, plus student, cash, return visit, multi-visit and partner discounts, so you can get at least one of them, hahaha. Go on a weekday morning and it's ₩17,000 per person, which is a total bargain!
- Before 1 p.m. on weekdays: ₩10,000 off per team
- Student discount
- Cash discount
- Return visit discount
- Multi-visit discount
- Partner discount
- Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon accepted

If you leave a receipt review, you also get a Polaroid photo to prove you did the escape room, so of course you have to get that, haha. Even I, who hates taking proof photos, took one to mark my escape!

What are the pre-game briefing and waiting area like?
At Exit, you put your bags down and get a basic briefing, which covers information about the theme you booked as well as how to use the padlocks. I had done an escape room not long ago, so I skipped the explanation! If it's your first time or it's been a while, definitely listen to how the padlocks work. It's seriously annoying when you know the answer but can't open the lock because you don't know how to use it... (T_T)

You can't use your phone during the theme anyway, so it's a good idea to leave it charging for the hour, and if you're waiting on site, you can play simple board games too, haha.

I also liked that the restroom and water area off to one side were clean. Once you go in you're completely locked in, so it's best to use the restroom and have a glass of water before you start, lol.

Exit theme difficulty order and why I picked Closed Ward
At Exit, difficulty and fear level get lower in this order: Haunted House, Cold Storage, Closed Ward, Prison. I was torn between Cold Storage and Closed Ward, then booked the comparatively easier Closed Ward! When you book on the website, you can check each theme's story, difficulty and fear level, so rather than just picking whatever looks the most fun, check whether it's a difficulty you can actually escape. That helps you succeed!

Just reading the description is terrifying, and all I could think was that I had to escape... lol

Closed Ward result: escaped with 3 minutes left
In the Closed Ward theme I went a little over the hint limit, but I escaped with about 3 minutes left!! I was in such a rush that I even typed in correct answers wrong, and when I got close to an answer but time was tight, I ended up using more hints. With so many things to do in Uijeongbu, it's a shame I'd only ever gone to the department store, because that hour at Exit Escape Room Cafe was so much fun, hahaha.

At the end, you can take a photo here holding the time board. I think I finally get why escape room fans exist and why people get addicted.
Because the rooms are private spaces, a lot of people assume they're dirty or poorly maintained, but if you're looking for something to do in Uijeongbu, give an escape room a try!

Starting with leaving a note here saying you escaped, an escape room café might just become the first thing you think of when someone says things to do in Uijeongbu, haha. I went last week, and I'm itching to try the other themes too..
