Magok taco restaurant with easy parking for new drivers: Taqueros

I met up with an old friend for the first time in a while, wanting to grab a good lunch and catch up on everything we'd missed, so we headed to Taqueros in Magok. The older I get, the harder it gets to just meet a friend, haha.

Between kids' schedules, chores, and everyone's own errands, sometimes you say "let's meet up sometime!" and a whole season passes before it happens, haha. So this time I made a real effort to lock in a lunch date. I was trying to decide what to eat, and honestly I'd been craving tacos for ages.

Inside Taqueros in Magok: what the dining room feels like

I remembered Taqueros, a taco spot that a lot of people in Magok love, so I headed straight there. The moment I walked in I couldn't help but go "ooh, this place has a good vibe!" Bold colors, framed art on the walls, little props here and there — the whole place felt thoroughly Mexican.

That said, it's not so dark or flashy that it feels over the top. It's casual but photogenic, so it was comfortable for a meal with a friend, and it seemed like a solid date spot for couples too. These days the atmosphere of a place matters almost as much as how the food tastes.

Since you're already out, it's a bit of a letdown to just eat fast and leave, haha. It looked like a good fit for dates or blind dates, sure, but also for family dinners, anniversaries, friend gatherings, or even a group of colleagues out together.

The 56,000-won signature couple set for two, ordered by two friends

What we ordered was the Taqueros Signature Couple Set for 2, ₩56,000. Just because it says "couple set" doesn't mean only couples get to eat it. We were girls once too, so my friend and I proudly ordered the couple set, haha.

The couple set lets you choose between a taco set and a rib set, so you can pick based on your taste. Since tacos were the whole point of coming, we didn't hesitate — taco set it was!

How the chicken taco and fish taco at Taqueros taste

We got one chicken taco and one fish taco, and both were bigger than I expected. The chicken taco had soft, clean-tasting chicken that paired well with the vegetables and sauce.

The fish taco personally exceeded my expectations. I worried fish might make it feel heavy, but it wasn't like that at all — soft and clean-tasting, genuinely delicious. I usually like building my own tacos by stuffing in whatever ingredients I want, but a taco that comes out this beautifully finished was really nice too.

Because whenever I wrap my own, somehow half the filling escapes out the side. I genuinely can't tell if I'm eating or spilling, haha. Here, one bite brought the meat, vegetables, and sauce together all at once, so you could really taste the whole combination — it was delicious.

The fajita platter: wrapping it the way you like

The fajita that came with the set was satisfying too. Seasoned meat, chicken, shrimp, seasoned rice — you pile whatever you like onto the tortilla and wrap it yourself, so there's real fun in the eating.

"Put this in too." "Add another shrimp." "Why did you put so much rice in there." My friend and I kept meddling with each other's wraps the whole time, haha.

Parking at Taqueros Magok, even for a new driver

You know how it is when you find a great restaurant but the parking lot is tight, and you tense up before you've even parked? Especially if you're a new driver, sometimes you use up all your energy in the parking lot before you even get to the food, haha. We came by car to Taqueros, and parking was relatively easy, which was great.

My friend, who hasn't been driving all that long, nailed the parking on the first try! I sat there uselessly cheering "ooh, nice, keep going, keep going!" like some kind of driving instructor, but honestly I think I was more nervous than she was, haha.

Is the Taqueros couple set enough food for two?

At first the portion looked pretty big, so we were like, "can we actually finish all this?" But between chatting and wrapping one bite after another, at some point the plate was basically empty. I guess when you're talking while you eat, you grow an extra stomach somehow. The portion was generous, but it never got repetitive since we could mix and match combinations, so we enjoyed it right to the end.

The apple mango ade at Taqueros

For a drink we ordered the apple mango ade. It had a sweet, refreshing mango flavor that went well with the tacos. Taking a sip in between bites of the meat and sauce refreshed the palate every time! If you like sweet drinks, this one's a safe pick.

Would I meet a friend at Taqueros in Magok again?

When you're picking a meeting spot in Magok, there's a surprising amount to weigh — taste, atmosphere, location, parking. On all those counts, Taqueros checked the boxes pretty well. This time we mostly stuck to tacos and fajita, so next time I'd like to try the set with the ribs. I don't know why ribs always look so much better when someone else is eating them, haha.

Getting to see a friend I hadn't seen in ages, eating good food, and talking our heads off about kids and life in general — it turned into a proper mood-lifting day.
