What is Chodaechang Baekseok Branch, and is there parking?

Chodaechang Baekseok Branch (초대창 백석점) is a daechang grill house in the Baekseok food alley, a Baekseok Station favorite that made the Blue Ribbon list three years in a row: 2024, 2025 and 2026. Parking in Baekseok is honestly hell... but Chodaechang has room for about 7-8 cars right in front!!!

I went to Baekseok with my husband to meet a friend, haha. Baekseok is surprisingly good for get-togethers, with great restaurants packed in 😃 I've been coming to Baekseok Station a lot lately, lol. I heard there's a great daechang place here, so off we went, haha.

I booked for 7 pm and the place was full!!! Only our reserved table was left. Everyone seemed to be on a company dinner. A great meat spot near Baekseok Station for drinking 👍👍

The wide tables are covered with colorful tablecloths. Apparently it comes from the feeling of a mother laying out food and covering it with a cloth before going out, and that's the welcoming spirit Chodaechang wants to carry.

Chodaechang menu, drinks and review event

Looking at the menu, they sell highballs, wine, and of course beer and soju, lol.

There's a review event too!! The prize is kimchi noodles 👍 And they serve hutgae tea instead of plain water!! So nice 😍

Chodaechang side dishes and dipping sauces

The basic sides are seasoned chamnamul (pimpinella) lettuce, wasabi gim (seaweed), cabbage salad, potato salad and garlic stems, and I liked that the sauces come separately for each person.

• The chamnamul lettuce salad is tasty!
• The wasabi gim is distinctive!
• The cabbage salad? Fresh and tangy, delicious haha
• The potato salad is good too
• Garlic stems are great when it gets greasy
• The sauces are tasty too!!

Soon after, the charcoal arrives. They don't skimp on it, lol.

What's in Chodaechang Set A and how is it grilled?

We ordered Set A, and at Chodaechang in Baekseok the staff grill everything for you! They keep coming at the right moments to flip the meat, haha. When they're busy, you grill it yourself.

I only found out later that gopchang is included only in Set S, lol. Read the menu carefully before ordering.

They grilled the heart first. Staff really did keep coming and grilling everything, so it was easy to relax over a drink 👍

The menu lists matching sauces at the bottom, and eating them that way was delicious!! The ponzu sauce has super thin radish slices in it, which was really good, and the gim wasabi has a nice kick 👍

Grilled in order: heart, tripe, makchang, then daechang

Set A is grilled in the order of heart, tripe (yang), makchang (large intestine) and daechang. I'd never had tripe in my life, and the texture is unique and tasty 😁

The super plump daechang is cooked lightly, then split in half and grilled again so the fat turns nutty, and yes, it's delicious 😄 The vents suck up the smoke so well that it isn't smoky even though it's a meat place. Chodaechang in Baekseok 👍

Even when I dunked it in lots of sauce it wasn't salty, which I loved. We talked comfortably and had a lovely drink!

Is Chodaechang's kimchi mari guksu a good way to finish?

The kimchi noodles (kimchi-malli guksu) come in an icy broth piled with egg strips, and they're the best finish after daechang!!! We were wondering what else to order when we saw the bowl at the next table and said, we're getting that!!! Added, lol. Couldn't not order it after seeing how it looked.

We were heading to a second round, so we ordered one bowl and shared it among the three of us, haha. Delicious! And this is a review event prize, so next time I'll write a review and get it free, lol.

Complimentary ice cream at Chodaechang Baekseok Branch

On my way to the restroom I noticed a sign saying to ask about the ice cream, haha. I didn't ask...

But after we finished and were deciding where to go for round two, the owner brought us an Excellent (ice cream bar) in a pretty bowl!!!

Ice cream is perfect with drinks! So thoughtful of Chodaechang!!

Next time I'll come and try Set S, lol. Great for get-togethers, tasty, and good for drinking 👍
