Siheung Korean BBQ near the bus terminal: tank cross-aged pork belly
In short
Hamdon Jeongwang Main Branch is a Jeju pork barbecue restaurant tucked inside the Jungsimsangga Rodeo shopping street near Siheung Jonghap Bus Terminal in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung. The lunch pork platter (ogyeopsal pork belly plus kimchi jjigae, 18,000 won per person) came with one extra serving of the tank cross-aged pork belly, rice mixed with heungguk (red yeast rice), minari wraps and whole grilled mushrooms. Staff do the first grilling and guests only decide the final sear, so the meat at Hamdon comes out at the same quality every time.

I couldn't make it to Jeju Island, but I was craving pork belly so juicy it practically bursts, the kind Jeju pigs are known for — so I headed to a well-known spot in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung instead. Hamdon was started by an owner who was so moved the first time he tried pork belly in Jeju that he wanted to share that feeling with customers.
Located near Siheung Jonghap Bus Terminal, Hamdon serves up quality Jeju pork in a hearty lunch spread that left me very satisfied. It's the kind of place that surprises you twice — once with the care that goes into the side dishes, and again with how good the meat tastes on its own!

Hamdon sits inside the rodeo street of Siheung's central commercial district, so it's easy to find.

Between the various certifications on display and the signature tank-aged meat, I felt my expectations rising the moment I walked in! I was especially curious what pork aged in a fish tank would taste like.
What the dining room at Hamdon feels like

With a clean interior and Jeju-inspired decor, it felt like I was already on the island — even though I haven't managed a summer vacation there yet.

Some tables are pushed together, which makes it a good spot for group gatherings too. Even though I visited during the day, there were quite a lot of customers.
Hamdon lunch menu and prices

What I liked about Hamdon is the lunch pork platter and the lunch special kimchi jjigae set. For the lunch pork, you can choose between pork neck or pork belly, and between kimchi jjigae or doenjang jjigae. That whole combo — pork + jjigae + rice + minari — comes to ₩18,000 per person. Considering a single serving of pork alone is ₩17,000, isn't that a total steal?
And of course there's the lunch special kimchi jjigae — with ramen noodles, rolled egg, and rice included, for just ₩10,000! Now I understand why the place is packed even during lunch hour.

Naengmyeon (cold noodles) and doenjang jeongol (soybean paste hot pot) are also on the lunch menu, priced reasonably too.

If you just want to enjoy an assortment of meat, I'd also recommend Hamdon's Snowflake Special.

Since I visited at lunchtime, I got the pork belly platter with an extra serving of pork belly added on.
How does the tank cross-aged pork belly taste?
That day I ordered the already generous lunch pork platter (kimchi jjigae + pork belly) and added an extra serving of pork belly to make it even more filling. First came the thick-cut pork belly. Maybe because it was aged, it had this glossy sheen to it.
They say Jeju pork has a higher fat ratio than regular pork belly. But once that fat goes through Hamdon's signature cross-aging process, the flavor deepens and the meat becomes even more delicious, apparently. If the fat ratio bothers you, you can order the special pork neck instead, or ask them to swap it out before it hits the grill. When I ate it, I didn't find it greasy at all — if anything, the richness was a plus.

The moment it hit the grill, a savory smell filled the air and it browned beautifully — just watching it made my mouth water. And those grill marks? Absolutely insane.

Staff grill it first, you decide the final sear
One distinctive thing about Hamdon, a pork belly favorite, is that staff do the initial grilling, and then you decide the finishing doneness yourself — kind of like grilling a steak, haha. When it's time, they hand you a small pair of tongs. Just wait patiently until then, and you'll get to eat some delicious meat!

Popping a well-grilled piece of pork belly into my mouth, the chewiness of the skin and the tender juiciness of the meat burst out — exactly the flavor I remember from Jeju.

They also serve a variety of side dishes that go well with the meat, but honestly, my friend and I agreed that just dipping the meat in salt was the tastiest way to eat it. The side dishes were great, but the meat itself was so good that other seasonings almost got in the way of its flavor! You know it's the real deal when meat tastes this good.
The set's kimchi jjigae and heungguk rice

The kimchi jjigae that came with the set was also simmered down long and slow, so the broth was rich and spicy, cutting right through the fattiness of the meat — a satisfying finish to the meal. And of course, the jjigae was packed with meat too, which made it immediately clear why so many people come just for the lunch special kimchi jjigae, haha.
Even the rice at Hamdon isn't an afterthought! It's mixed with heungguk (red yeast rice), giving it a reddish tint. Even something as simple as rice felt more special, like I was being taken care of. The rice was fluffy and delicious too — I finished a whole bowl just dipping it into the jjigae broth.

Eaten with the minari (water celery) wraps that came alongside, the herb's fragrance and texture paired perfectly with the tender meat. And one thing you really shouldn't skip: the mushrooms. Grilled whole and then sliced, they're packed with juice and incredibly moist — a real treat.
Is Hamdon worth it for lunch in Jeongwang-dong?

If you want to enjoy the deep, authentic taste of Jeju pork along with a generous, well-composed meal near Siheung Jonghap Bus Terminal in Jeongwang-dong's central commercial district, I'd recommend Hamdon! Between the thick, chewy pork belly, the rich kimchi jjigae, and the range of side dishes, this felt like a place that truly cares about its meat — somewhere I'd love to come back to.
