Sinsigaji Jeonju Thai massage for neck and shoulders: Kim's Thai

No matter how much I exercise and stretch, sitting at a computer all day means neck and shoulder pain comes around on a regular cycle. I've been through this so many times now that I can feel a day ahead when tomorrow is going to be rough — so I went straight ahead and booked a Thai massage session!

What kind of place is Kim's Thai in Jeonju's Sinsigaji?

This time I visited Kim's Thai, located near Majeon Forest in Jeonju's Sinsigaji area. I'd actually been here once before on my own dime, and since I remembered it being good, I decided to come back.

Kim's Thai is 100%, completely, totally a legitimate massage shop, so whether you come alone like me, on a couple's date, with family, or with friends, you can relax safely no matter who you're with. If there's even a hint of anything shady, you're out immediately!!!

Especially on humid, hot days like these, I'd recommend it as an indoor date spot too. Loosen up your body while dating — two birds, one stone, haha.

Kim's Thai location, hours and parking

Kim's Thai Jeonju Sinsigaji is at 13 Hongsan 3-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk, South Korea, 4th floor, and it's open daily from 11:00 AM to 3:00 AM. For parking, use the space in front of Jjigae Gojip restaurant on the building's 1st floor, and if there's no room, there's a nearby public lot (Hyoja-dong 3-ga 1529-13).

Just like last time, the female owner here gives you a really warm welcome, haha — there's a friendly vibe to the place. And the therapist doesn't rush through things carelessly either — very thorough.

How much is a 60-minute Thai massage, and is a foot bath included?

Kim's Thai's 60-minute Thai massage costs ₩38,000, but with a ₩3,000 review coupon or a 30% group-visit discount, you can get it even cheaper.

Just so you know, the foot bath isn't part of the standard course at Kim's Thai, but you can get one if you want it, or if the therapist needs a break. I didn't ask for one since I wanted to get straight to loosening up my neck. You can just soak your feet in hot water at home... I wanted my Thai massage as fast as possibleeee.

The face cushion bed and how firm the pressure is

One reason I like Kim's Thai is that, like the beds with a hole for your face at aesthetic clinics, they have a cushion your face can nestle into, so your face doesn't get squished as much. Also, I prefer massages with a decent amount of pressure over gentle ones, and the pressure here was just right — not so hard it would leave bruises, but not so light it felt like nothing either!

Asking for a focus on neck, shoulders and calves

Before the main Thai massage started, I told them in advance that I wanted focused work on just three spots — neck, shoulders, and calves — and they matched that request well. After pressing into my shoulders, the therapist's first words were: 'Ugh, these are bad.' Hahahahahaha, tell me about it, TT. Neck, trapezius, calves — all rock hard, full of knots.

They kept checking in on whether the pressure was okay throughout, so I got to enjoy the whole Thai massage at a strength that suited me, starting from the back of the neck and working through the shoulders, trapezius, and the muscles around the shoulder blades — such a refreshing feeling. Especially around the trapezius, instead of pressing evenly all over, it felt like they were determined to hunt down and eliminate every single knotted, catching spot — my tension really felt like it was releasing!!

They finished with a full-body stretch, and my body kept making cracking sounds the whole time, haha, so embarrassing. My body seems to be stiffening up faster and faster these days...

How the neck and shoulders felt after 60 minutes

Right up until the full 60 minutes were over, they never rushed to wrap things up, so this visit was satisfying once again. My stiff, tense body felt a lot lighter afterward — good, good. Definitely coming back next time, hehe.
