Escape room couple date in Hongdae: Pyramid theme at Cube Escape

Today I've got a Hongdae escape room review for you!! My husband and I came out to Hongdae for a date after a while, and once again, without fail, we tried an escape room 😆 We've tried escape rooms so many times but have never once escaped 😭 Honestly it's kind of funny that we keep going back despite that, but if you're looking for a Hongdae escape room, please read to the end 😉✨

What kind of escape room is Cube Escape Hongdae Branch?

Cube Escape Hongdae Branch is an escape room café located in Hongdae! Among Hongdae escape rooms, it's known for its variety of themes 😊 I'd recommend booking through Naver reservation before you go! If you're visiting the same day, you can book through the official website 😊

The themes I could choose from were Pyramid and Monkey House, and I went with Pyramid, which drew me in more 🏺

The waiting area at Cube Escape Hongdae Branch was pretty spacious, so we could wait comfortably 😊 We arrived early to cool off a bit and look around, and hearing the laughter of people already inside made us even more excited 💕

While waiting, I checked the theme description and saw Pyramid was easy level, no horror, which gave me a surge of confidence that we could totally escape this time 😆🔥 I looked up reviews and saw a 95% escape rate, which pumped up my confidence even more!! I thought, this time we're really going to make it out 😄

Pyramid theme: does it really feel like Egypt?

The Pyramid theme runs for 60 minutes, with up to 4 hints available! True to its name, the space was so full of Egyptian atmosphere everywhere that it really felt like being in Egypt — you could tell they were serious about the theme.

It was fun just to look around, honestly, even more than trying to escape 😆 My husband and I put our heads together solving puzzles, and the 60 minutes flew by 🤔

The result: 4 hints used and still in the 5% that fail

In the end, we used all 4 hints and still failed, becoming part of that unlucky 5% 😂😂 I was so annoyed at myself for trusting that 95% escape rate lol

The Egyptian vibe was so good that we didn't want to leave anyway 😆💕 Every time I do an escape room, the same thought comes up — I wish there were no time limit so we could just solve everything and escape at our own pace!! Could someone please make a service like that?! 😂 If one already exists, please let me know 🙏

Is the Pyramid theme worth it for a Hongdae date?

I'm so disappointed we didn't escape at Cube Escape Hongdae Branch that I'm 100% up for going back!! It's given me a fierce determination to escape next time 😆 With so many difficulty levels and themes, it seems like a place worth visiting more than once 👍

Even though we failed to escape, it was such an enjoyable date with my husband after a while 🥹💕 If you're looking for a Hongdae escape room, or trying to figure out a date spot!!
