Noryangjin Korean BBQ: three-cut Set A & Cass beer at Naengsam Hanok
In short
Naengsam Hanok (냉삼한옥) is a frozen pork belly restaurant with a hanok-style exterior, tucked in an alley near Noryangjin Station in Dongjak, Seoul. At dinner, Set A brought pork belly, pork neck and hangjeongsal (pork jowl), grilled alongside minari (water parsley), bracken, potato and kimchi. Steamed egg custard and doenjang (soybean paste) stew come free, and the Cass bottled beer was especially cold. Naengsam Hanok is a good-value Noryangjin Korean BBQ spot worth returning to for after-work drinks or a team dinner.

What comes in Set A at Naengsam Hanok near Noryangjin Station?
With one Set A at Naengsam Hanok (냉삼한옥), you get pork belly, pork neck and hangjeongsal (pork jowl), plus egg custard and doenjang (soybean paste) stew for free. I was looking for a good-value pork BBQ place near Noryangjin Station, and this is where I ended up.
There are plenty of frozen pork belly (naengsam) restaurants these days, but not many that satisfy you on both the meat and the meal sides. Naengsam Hanok scored high with me thanks to its generous portions and tidy, clean interior.

What is the atmosphere like at Naengsam Hanok?
Naengsam Hanok is a frozen pork belly restaurant in an alley near Noryangjin Station, with a striking exterior in hanok (traditional Korean house) style. The wooden sign and tiled roof caught my eye, and when I visited in the evening the place was already full of customers.
The restaurant isn't big, but it was kept clean and tidy overall.

How do pork belly, pork neck and hangjeongsal taste?
I ordered Set A, one of Naengsam Hanok's signature menus. It isn't just frozen pork belly: it comes with a range of cuts, pork belly, pork neck and hangjeongsal, which I really liked.
The meat arrives flash-frozen, so it felt fresh, and the thickness is just right, so it cooks quickly and you really get the charm of naengsam. The pork belly had a rich, nutty flavor, the pork neck was clean-tasting yet tender, and the hangjeongsal had an appealing chewy texture.
That's why I like set menus :) Getting to try several cuts made it feel like very good value.

What goes on the grill with the meat?
Potato, minari (water dropwort), bracken and kimchi go on the grill by default. Grilled together with the pork belly, the flavor gets much better, and the minari and bracken combo is simply the best with pork belly.
It cuts through the richness of the fatty pork while adding a fragrant note, so my chopsticks kept going back for more. With well-fermented kimchi on top, I really tasted that nostalgic flavor naengsam is known for.

Are the egg custard and doenjang stew really free?
Yes! Egg custard and doenjang stew come free at Naengsam Hanok, and that's one reason I recommend it as a good-value place in Noryangjin. At most BBQ restaurants these days you have to order them separately, so it felt even better.
The fluffy egg custard had a soft texture, and the doenjang stew was generously filled with zucchini and tofu, perfect with the meat. Pork can get a bit greasy, but the stew balances it out nicely, doesn't it?

Is Naengsam Hanok good for beer and group dinners?
Golden-grilled naengsam needs a cold beer, of course. Wow, this place is a beer paradise. The Cass bottled beer was seriously cold!
The crispy texture and nutty flavor of frozen pork belly went well with beer too. It's great for a casual drink after work, and the atmosphere works fine for a company dinner as well.

Summary: Naengsam Hanok, a Noryangjin frozen pork belly spot
With one Set A you can enjoy pork belly, pork neck and hangjeongsal, and egg custard and doenjang stew come free, so Naengsam Hanok is a good-value frozen pork belly restaurant in Noryangjin. The meat was satisfying, and the side dishes and meal items were generous too, so I'd happily go back.
If you're looking for a pork BBQ place or a group dinner spot near Noryangjin Station, I recommend giving Naengsam Hanok a visit.
