Busan Station pork cutlet lunch with udon broth: Dal and Sixpence
In short
Gyeongyangsik Dal and Sixpence Main Branch (경양식 달과6펜스 본점) is a Korean-style Western (gyeongyangsik) pork cutlet restaurant in Choryang, near Busan Station in Dong-gu, Busan. Before walking the Bukang-i course to the Bukhang waterfront park, the writer ordered two gyeongyangsik pork cutlets and an udon: the batter was thin, the sauce was not overly sweet, and the udon broth cleanly cut the richness. At 10,000 won per person with soup and rice included, Dal and Sixpence was an easy, affordable Busan Station lunch.

Where to eat near Busan Station before heading to Bukhang?
I had lunch at Gyeongyangsik Dal and Sixpence Main Branch (경양식 달과 6펜스 본점) in Choryang, near Busan Station, and ordered gyeongyangsik pork cutlet (Korean retro-style Western cutlet). I picked it as a hearty meal before touring the Bukhang Waterfront Park by bukkangi (the Busan sightseeing ride).

Whether you work near Busan Station or plan to head over to Bukhang after lunch, deciding where to eat is surprisingly tricky. On nice days like these, lots of people get off at Busan Station and go straight to Bukhang Waterfront Park on the bukkangi course, so I went looking for something filling beforehand and ended up at a gyeongyangsik cutlet place.

This time I visited Gyeongyangsik Dal and Sixpence Main Branch in Choryang.
Is Gyeongyangsik Dal and Sixpence Main Branch close to Busan Station?
It's in Choryang, not far from Busan Station, so it's easy to get to. It's a good spot for a quick lunch before moving on, or to combine with a meal before Bukhang Waterfront Park.

You don't see gyeongyangsik cutlets as often as you used to, so I get a craving now and then. This day, I decided to have a proper retro-style one for the first time in a while.
Atmosphere and how to order at Dal and Sixpence
The restaurant is bigger than I expected and feels clean overall. There are tables for two as well as seats for bigger groups, so it looks good for anyone from solo diners to office lunch crowds.

Order a gyeongyangsik cutlet and soup and rice come with it. Soup refills are ₩500. It's been a while since I had this combo, so it felt oddly nostalgic.
Gyeongyangsik pork cutlet price and taste
We ordered two gyeongyangsik cutlets and an udon. The cutlet is the familiar plate with cutlet, sauce, rice and so on, and at ₩10,000 per person it wasn't a heavy price for a lunch, considering today's eating-out prices.

Looks: full marks!!!!! The smell alone got my nose going. Gyeongyangsik cutlet can get really greasy and tiresome if done badly, but this place is the real deal!! As for the cutlet itself, the batter wasn't too thick and the meat had a decent thickness. Best of all, the sauce wasn't overly sweet.

You want that signature sweet gyeongyangsik sauce, but too sweet is a lot. The Dal and Sixpence cutlet wasn't over-seasoned when eaten with rice, so I never got tired of it and kept reaching for more.
How is pork cutlet with udon?
Having cutlet and udon together worked well. Cutlet alone can be a little rich, so I added udon, and the warm broth and noodles went nicely with it.

The broth is seriously the kick,,,,!! Taking a sip of udon broth between bites of crispy cutlet cleans up your mouth, so I kept alternating between the two. The portion didn't feel lacking for lunch either.

Since rice comes with it too, I think you'll be satisfied if you usually eat a hearty meal.
Why it works as a Busan Station lunch
What I liked about Dal and Sixpence as a Busan Station lunch is that the menu isn't complicated. When you're choosing lunch near Busan Station, sometimes you just want an easy meal rather than the usual tourist-area fare, and gyeongyangsik cutlet fit that better than I expected.

It was also a good way to fill up before exploring Bukhang Waterfront Park by bukkangi. And with so many offices around Busan Station, I thought it was a safe weekday lunch choice for office workers too.
Parking and opening hours at Dal and Sixpence
Gyeongyangsik Dal and Sixpence Main Branch has no dedicated parking lot. If you drive, you'll need to use a nearby lot; the ones listed are the Baekyang and Cheonu parking lots near Choryang Station Exit 2. For parties of two or more, ₩1,000 of parking support is available, so keep that in mind if you come by car.

Final thoughts on Dal and Sixpence
Maybe because it had been a while since I'd had a gyeongyangsik cutlet, it was a familiar and welcome meal. The sauce wasn't too sweet and the cutlet thickness was just right with rice, and adding udon made the meal quite filling.
If you want a meal before catching a train at Busan Station, or lunch after arriving and before heading to Bukhang Waterfront Park by bukkangi, it's worth a stop. Personally, what stuck with me was that it's not a flashy, punchy flavor but an easygoing gyeongyangsik cutlet. If I need lunch near Busan Station again, I wouldn't mind coming back.
