What kind of Korean BBQ restaurant is Insaengdwaeji Songpa Branch?
Insaengdwaeji Songpa Branch is a Munjeong-dong pork restaurant that only uses well-aged, domestic female pig meat. It's the kind of place with thick-cut samgyeopsal (pork belly) so juicy that the tagline 'there's no one who's come once and never come back' actually made sense to me. I felt like this was somewhere you could taste properly done meat.

Insaengdwaeji Songpa Branch is Munjeong-dong's go-to meat restaurant. Even the name sounds confident about the taste of its meat. I was agonizing over what to eat near Munjeong Station with a friend when we ended up here, and honestly it was so good that if you're looking for the meal of your life, Insaengdwaeji Songpa Branch is worth a visit.

Dining room and space between tables
The interior of Insaengdwaeji Songpa Branch is genuinely spacious and clean. There's plenty of room between tables, so you can eat comfortably. We visited a bit early, so I managed to get photos of the tidy interior.
There were signed photos all over the walls too. Seeing autographs like that before you even eat naturally raises your expectations, and the fact that the meat still lived up to it made me think this place is genuinely a meat specialist.

What's on the menu at Insaengdwaeji?
The Insaengdwaeji menu includes ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly), samgyeopsal (pork belly), whole pork neck, pork jowl, ganmaegisal, gochujang pork belly, and pork skin. It felt entirely focused on pork, which made it even more satisfying, and the meal-menu prices were reasonable too.

If you leave a review, you get a free bomb-sized steamed egg, so definitely take part in that.
Dipping sauces and side dishes
At Insaengdwaeji Songpa Branch you get two basic dipping sauces for the meat as standard: salt and ssamjang (soybean-chili dipping sauce).

The other side dishes were generous too — sliced garlic and scallions to grill alongside the meat, plus kimchi. It was a lineup that paired perfectly with the meat, and I loved it.

How was the ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly)?
We first ordered two servings of ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly) at Insaengdwaeji Songpa Branch, and being aged, domestic female pig meat, the juiciness was outstanding. Even the color looked different from usual. Ogyeopsal is distinct from samgyeopsal in that it keeps the skin attached, which makes for a fun texture once grilled. We started with ogyeopsal first because we wanted to taste the meat itself.

As the meat cooked on the grill, that savory smell rose up, and I swear meat makes you hungry the second it starts grilling. A staff member grilled the thick cuts for us from the start, so all we had to do was eat, which made things even easier.
Once the ogyeopsal was browned to perfection, the outside had a chewy texture while the inside was tender and packed with juice. Truly the textbook definition of crispy outside, tender inside.

The first bite went straight into the salt, and honestly, nothing else was needed — this was exactly it.

It went really well with the lettuce wraps too, and since the meat quality itself is good, basically everything tastes great with it. The garlic and kimchi all paired so well — this really is a satisfying Munjeong pork belly spot.

Is the bomb steamed egg really a bomb?
We ate the bomb-sized steamed egg at Insaengdwaeji Songpa Branch midway through the meal, and wow, it truly lived up to its name. It was fluffy, soft and delicious, with just the right seasoning — perfect even for kids' palates.

Was the extra order of pork skin worth it?
We ordered pork skin as an extra since we felt like we wanted more while eating. Grilling pork properly is genuinely tricky, but the Insaengdwaeji staff grilled it deliciously for us, so all we had to do was eat.

They cut it into bite-sized pieces for us. It seemed like the perfect side dish for a drink — it had been a while since I'd had pork skin, and the chewy texture was seriously delicious.

Dipping it in soybean powder doubled the nuttiness and made it taste even better.

How's the doenjang jjigae to finish?
The finishing doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) at Insaengdwaeji Songpa Branch comes with rice included. We ate it to wrap up the meal, and it was packed with ingredients and had a spicy chili kick that completely cut through the richness of the meat. The stew here is clearly a strong point too, which made me want to come back and try the kimchi jjigae next time.
