Sokcho bakery: Dolomites photo wall and chunky potato bread, Bultan
In short
Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread Main Store is a potato bread bakery on Haksapyeong-gil at the foot of Seoraksan in Sokcho, Gangwon. After sampling the squid ink potato bread, the writer bought two boxes of potato bread plus squid, red snow crab and dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken) flavored jjondeugi (chewy grilled snack strips), and was struck by the mild flavor and the bits of lightly mashed potato you can bite into. Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread is worth a stop for a not-too-sweet travel snack or a neat Sokcho souvenir.

A great bakery in Sokcho: Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread (속초불탄감자빵). I picked the squid ink potato bread as a snack souvenir from my Seoraksan trip in Sokcho.

The weather was so nice that the ocean view looked even more beautiful. A healing trip through Sokcho and Goseong~~~~
What does the potato bread at Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread taste like?
The potato bread here isn't very sweet. It's a plain snack with pure potato flavor. The outside is chewy, and the inside is full of fluffy potato that's only partly mashed, so you can bite into little chunks.
Today's travel snack~ a plain, not-too-sweet, healthy snack

Today's snack was Sokcho potato bread, plain and really delicious. Pure potato flavor. Not very sweet. The outside is chewy~~~ and the inside is full of fluffy mashed potato. It isn't completely mashed, and the leftover potato chunks make it even tastier.
The best point is that the potato isn't sweet. It's soft and you can taste the potato's own gentle sweetness. I want to keep eating it.

Where is Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread, and is there parking?
The main store is on Haksapyeong-gil, at the foot of Seoraksan in Sokcho, and it has its own parking lot. It's a Sokcho hot spot, so the lot was fairly full on the day I visited.
It sits at the foot of Seoraksan. The outside of the building is covered in colorful paintings, so you can spot it from far away. Great visibility, haha. It's a Sokcho hot spot, so there were quite a lot of cars in the lot.
Inside Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread
The inside is spacious and pleasant. The walls are hung with photos of the Dolomites in Italy, which are fun to look at.
A roomy, comfortable bakery

The interior is spacious and comfortable. The walls have photos of the Dolomites, my bucket list! Wow~~~ so gorgeous.

What is squid ink potato bread?
The squid ink potato bread has squid ink in the outer dough, which turns it black. Inside the thin black dough, it's packed with mashed potato.
Squid ink potato bread. The shell of the bread is black from squid ink. The black dough is thin, not thick, and the inside is full of mashed potato. You can really taste the gentle sweetness of new potatoes. It isn't very sweet, so it's a taste anyone, young or old, will like!!

Once you've tried the sample, it's hard to just turn around and leave. So tasty, haha. A flavor that makes you want to leave with both hands full.
What did I buy as Sokcho souvenirs?
I bought two boxes of potato bread and some jjondeugi (chewy dried snack) at Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread. The orange box packaging looked tidy, so it seemed good as a Sokcho travel souvenir or a gift set too.
Bultan potato bread & nostalgic snack jjondeugi

I bought two boxes of potato bread and jjondeugi. The orange package whets the appetite~ The packaging is neat, so it would be good for gifts too. Recommended as a Sokcho travel souvenir snack gift set.

Individually wrapped, so it's easy to snack on during a trip
Each potato bread is wrapped individually, so you can eat it outdoors without getting your hands messy. It's filling, which makes it handy when you get peckish on a trip.
Individually wrapped, so it's clean. Hygienic, and easy to eat outdoors without messy hands. On trips there are times you get hungry even after a meal. For those moments it's perfect to carry along as a filling, satisfying snack.

Jjondeugi comes in three flavors: squid, red snow crab and dakgangjeong
The jjondeugi sold here comes in three flavors: squid, red snow crab and dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken). It's fun to pick one of each.
Jjondeugi is a taste of childhood. With squid, red snow crab and dakgangjeong flavors, it's great to pick one of each. Delicious potato bread and chewy jjondeugi. A tasty spot worth stopping by on a Sokcho trip.
