Konkuk Univ. bakery café with an autumn terrace brunch: Stack Bakery
In short
Stack Bakery is a pastry-focused bakery café in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin, Seoul, between Konkuk Univ. Station and Jayang Station. On an autumn visit around 12pm, the writer ordered a pain au chocolat, a salt bread with red bean butter, a kouign-amann and a latte, then had brunch on the outdoor terrace in the shade of a wall. With shatteringly flaky pastries and coffee that backs them up, Stack Bakery is just right for an autumn terrace brunch.

What is Stack Bakery, the bakery between Konkuk Univ. Station and Jayang Station?
Stack Bakery is a bakery café in Jayang-dong, between Konkuk Univ. Station and Jayang Station, and its strength is pastries like croissants and pain au chocolat. I found a real gem of a bakery between Konkuk Univ. Station and Jayang Station, hahaha! A bakery café where the croissants and pain au chocolat are absolutely amazing: Stack Bakery!

What time does Stack Bakery open? Picnic snacks for the Han River
Stack Bakery opens at 8am, so you can pick up sandwiches and bread in the morning and head to Ttukseom Hangang Park for a picnic. It opens at 8am, which means you can leisurely grab sandwiches and bread in the morning and go on a Han River picnic. Ttukseom Hangang Park, the Ttukseom ferry pier and Ttukseom Resort are all right nearby, haha.
It's such a good bakery to stock up on snacks for a Han River picnic, haha. It's also great for a relaxed brunch with a cup of coffee and a piece of bread, a neighborhood Jayang-dong bakery café that really delivers.

Why is Stack Bakery's croissant a bakery-pilgrimage stop?
I heard Stack Bakery's croissant has been hailed as one of the best in Seoul, so this is a must-visit stop on any bakery pilgrimage.

Is the bread all out by noon?
Stack Bakery reportedly has all its breads ready after 11am, so around 12 noon the shelves were full of every kind. Wow, my eyes were spinning! I visited around noon and the breads were packed in by type, haha.
The layers of the pain au chocolat, flaking apart, totally captivated me, hahaha. Definitely order the pain au chocolat!

Stack Bakery menu near Konkuk Univ.
Stack Bakery has such a wide menu, with cruffins, salt bread with red bean butter, all sorts of pastries, that choosing is half the fun. If you live in Jayang-dong, study at Konkuk Univ., or are heading to a Ttukseom Resort picnic, this is a total must-visit bakery café, hahahaha.

Inside Stack Bakery: the atmosphere
The shop is full of all kinds of bread and decorated with European touches here and there, so just looking around was fun. The David Hockney dog painting is so cute.

A roomy, tidy 2nd floor with fresh flowers on the tables
At Stack Bakery you order on the 1st floor and go up to the 2nd floor to sit. The space is quite spacious, and the fresh flowers made the mood so lovely. They say what sets a great restaurant apart is fresh flowers on the table, and here there were two pretty vases, which made me so, so happy.

What I ordered on the autumn terrace: pain au chocolat, salt bread with red bean butter, kouign-amann
At Stack Bakery I ordered a pain au chocolat, salt bread with red bean butter, a kouign-amann (퀸아망) and coffee, and the weather was so, so nice that I took a seat on the outdoor terrace. The table sits right next to a wall, so I liked that it was in the wall's shade. In peak autumn like this, you have to come to a terrace café.

How was the pain au chocolat's crust?
Stack Bakery's pain au chocolat is crisp outside and flakes apart like autumn leaves, a true work of art. You really have to try this place.

Inside it's so soft, perfect for breakfast or brunch. A pain au chocolat with a cup of coffee, and I think there's nothing left to envy.

It's a bakery café, but is the coffee good too?
The coffee at Stack Bakery was good too. At bakery cafés the coffee is often disappointing, but this place has tasty coffee as well. Why is this latte so good, hahaha! Coffee that lets the bread shine made for such a happy snack time, hahaha. I'll have to come back soon and work my way through the whole menu.
