Looking for a café near Sinnonhyeon or Gangnam Station, there's a surprisingly common dilemma. Either the place is packed with no seats, or the café is huge but there's barely any decent dessert left.
While hunting for a coffee shop near Sinnonhyeon Station, I found somewhere a bit unusual — a fairly large café that takes up multiple floors of a building, and apparently the bakery is legit too. So I went to check it out!
I got there a little after 8pm on a weekday... and to cut to the chase!! Ugh, I went way too late. Because almost everything I wanted to try was already sold out...! Next time I'm definitely going early!

Finding Something About Coffee from Sinnonhyeon Station
Something About Coffee is pretty close to Sinnonhyeon Station, so it wasn't hard to find. Walking around these back streets, you see quite a few large cafés that take over whole buildings, and this one was similar — the space runs from the basement up through the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors, with tons of seating on every level.

Even though I visited at 8pm on a weekday, the place was already fairly full.
I loved that there's a terrace too. With trees planted around it, the vibe was nice and cozy. I'm someone who really likes natural breeze, so having an outdoor space like this was great. Among cafés near Sinnonhyeon Station, it's not that common to find one this spacious that also has a terrace!
How much bakery is left at 8pm on a weekday?
As you can see, the bakery was almost completely sold out... ㅠㅠ If you want to actually get a dessert, I'd recommend going early rather than late!!
Something About Coffee had a pretty wide range, from baked goods like scones and financiers to full cakes. They say everything is handmade using French gourmet butter, French chocolate, cream cheese, and 100% almonds. The problem was I went way too late — menus I was curious about, like the fig cake, were basically all gone.

Tasting three orders at Something About Coffee
⭐ Black sesame cream latte, ₩7,800
Personally, the black sesame cream latte was really delicious. They pile a generous amount of black sesame cream on top, and it hits you with a nutty, rich flavor right away. Just when it starts to feel a touch heavy, the latte underneath smooths it out — the balance was great.
⭐ Lemon Earl Grey cookie, ₩6,800
The lemon Earl Grey cookie was super refreshing too!! There's lemon filling inside the Earl Grey cookie, and the lemon aroma really comes through — the filling is chewy and tangy, which went great with the americano.
⭐ Mugwort red bean injeolmi cheesecake, ₩9,200
The one I was most curious about was the mugwort red bean injeolmi (glutinous rice cake) cheesecake. There's injeolmi rice cake on top and the mugwort cream is really intense — like eating actual mugwort rice cake!
In the middle there's red bean, and underneath a cheesecake with walnuts supports it all — total halmaenial (grandma-chic) dessert vibes.
Is Something About Coffee worth a late-evening visit?
If you're looking for a café near Gangnam or Sinnonhyeon Station where you can sit and relax in a spacious spot, or you want a handmade dessert shop, I'd recommend Something About Coffee! Just don't go late like I did, or you might miss out on the dessert you actually want! Early visits are better!
Next time I'm going early and definitely getting the financier, fig cream cake, and corn cream cake!
