Shrimp poke with avocado and mushroom soup near Gangnam Station

In short

Ola Poke Gangnam is a poke salad restaurant on the basement floor near Exit 4 of Gangnam Station in Seoul. Eating solo, the writer ordered the shrimp poke (No. 2) with avocado and mushroom soup added, finding the plump shrimp and diet-friendly rice filling enough for a full meal. The self-serve bar with rooibos tea, yuzu soy sauce, and even hair ties made it an easy solo lunch for office workers watching their diet.

A bowl of shrimp poke at Ola Poke Gangnam

Today's food adventure is a solo lunch near Gangnam Station — a filling diet-friendly meal at Ola Poke.

So many people are watching their diet these days, checking everything down to the ingredients! And when you think healthy yet filling, poke salad comes to mind.

This time I visited Ola Poke. Poke is more filling than you'd expect and everyone knows it's healthy, so let's eat well and eat healthy!

And the great part — 1 hour of free parking support. Where else in Gangnam do you get free parking for an hour!? That's really lucky, so this place definitely has that going for it :)

Finding Ola Poke Gangnam's basement floor location

It's a great solo dining salad spot near Gangnam Station, popular with office workers. I found the location a bit confusing at first.

  • First, head down to the basement floor (B1)!
  • If you approach from the back, you have to come down from the 1st floor.
  • If you approach from the front building, the basement floor connects directly.

The address is Basement 1F, Bisangga 104, 46 Teheran-ro 4-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (826-37 Yeoksam-dong by lot number). It's 287m from Exit 4 of Gangnam Station (Line 2, Sinbundang Line). Hours are weekdays 10:30–20:30, break time 15:00–17:00, last order at 20:10, and it's closed on weekends. Reservations, takeout, and delivery are all available.

Overview of the self-serve bar at Ola Poke Gangnam

What's at the self-serve bar?

There's a self-serve bar, so just grab what you need there.

Rooibos tea and lemon water at the self-serve bar

Warm rooibos tea and (decaf) lemon water are available. Be careful with the hot water!

Cutlery and yuzu soy sauce set out at the self-serve bar

Cutlery and yuzu soy sauce are set out, so if you need any, just pour it into a bowl.

Hair ties and mouthwash at the self-serve bar

Since a lot of women come here, they thoughtfully provide hair ties, plus mouthwash for after your meal — handy if you didn't bring your own toothbrush.

Mushroom soup and shrimp poke, how it tastes

A cup of thick mushroom soup

Mushroom soup — it's been a while since I ordered this, and it's still that nostalgic flavor! It tastes like something you'd want to dip bread into. The soup was nice and thick, not watery at all. Just watch out, it's hot.

Dipping sauce served with the shrimp

A sauce came out that you can dip the shrimp in, or not — totally up to you :) It wasn't spicy for me!

Full spread of the shrimp poke with added avocado

Here comes my luxurious meal. Eating like this, you're bound to be full, right? Half an avocado is added, and there's rice underneath — not white rice, but the healthy diet-friendly rice!

Close-up of the plump shrimp and vegetables on the poke

The shrimp were plump and just the right size, which I loved, and the vegetables were fresh too. The sauce was underneath, but it kept every bite from tasting bland.

Personally, I think poke salad is plenty for a full meal. I'd recommend it for when you're watching what you eat but still want something delicious, or for people who want salad but find it too much of a hassle to prep. Enjoy it anytime :)
