Today I'm bringing you a review of a place I truly visit all the time, my beloved regular spot ~! On these sweltering summer days, whenever I crave something cool yet chewy and properly made noodles, this is where I go without a second thought!!!! I'm already on my Nth revisit, that's how much this Mokpo lunch hotspot has won over my taste buds 💛 A place that serves refined, deep-flavored Japanese-style noodle dishes and never disappoints no matter how many times I go — this is "Udon-i Wanseongdoeda" ☺️
Where is Udon-i Wanseongdoeda Mokpo Peace Plaza Branch, and what are the hours?

- 📍Location: 320 Baengnyeondae-ro, Mokpo-si, Jeonnam Gwangju, 1st floor
- 🕖 Hours: Daily 11:00–20:30 [Closed every Tuesday]
- 🚘 Parking: Available around and in front of the restaurant 🚗
The restaurant sits in an alley right in the heart of the Peace Plaza commercial area, so it's easy to find haha. Even from a distance you can spot the warm yellow exterior walls and the tiled-roof entrance, which gives off an antique yet stylish impression. Next to the entrance stands a large sign reading "Udon-i Wanseongdoeda" alongside a wooden 営業中 (Open) sign that adds a nice local touch 🤎
Inside Udon-i Wanseongdoeda: seating and solo dining

Udon-i Wanseongdoeda Mokpo Peace Plaza Branch has tables for 2 to 4 spaced out generously, so it's great for solo dining as well as Mokpo Peace Plaza lunch meetups or date courses. I come here often, but every time I walk in it still feels clean and tidy. Warm wood-toned furniture combines with soft lighting throughout, making it a comfortable place to eat ~~
Ordering by table kiosk and what we ordered this time
At Udon-i Wanseongdoeda, once you sit down, each table has its own smart kiosk system installed ☺️ You can look at photos of the menu right at your seat and finish ordering and paying all at once — so convenient!!

This visit we ordered the signature dishes I always get — toriten bukkake, inaniwa sesame tsuyu, tumbang cream udon — plus 3 soft-boiled egg tempura on the side and a chilled Coca-Cola Zero to beat the heat!

The ordered mains and sides came out set up all across the table. As a proper handmade-noodle udon specialist, each menu item has its own distinctive noodle texture and sauce, and it's never changed no matter when I come 🤤 The basic side dishes are pickled radish (danmuji) and spicy-sweet mustard greens kimchi (gat-kimchi).

Toriten bukkake: the cold udon to order in summer
Toriten bukkake udon is one of the dishes I think of most on sweltering summer days 🍜 Chilled, springy noodles come topped with two big pieces of crispy fried chicken (toriten), chopped scallions, grated radish and a lemon wedge. Squeeze the lemon over it for a bit of zing, then mix the noodles with the cold, rich tsuyu sauce underneath — the moment you slurp it up, that uniquely chewy, springy texture of cold udon is just so good 👍🏻
Dipping the toriten — crispy outside, moist inside — lightly in the tsuyu sauce and eating it alongside the noodles makes it even better, you know?

Tumba cream udon: the spicy, nutty fusion bowl
Next up is the tumbang cream udon, which shows off the best of fusion udon 🧡 It comes with cheese shaved on like snowflakes and a heap of sliced scallions piled over the spicy yet savory tumbang sauce. The thick, chewy udon noodles are deeply soaked in that spicy savory sauce, so you keep eating without even realizing it, and the slight kick of spice keeps your appetite going — if you're the type who likes cream pasta or spicy fusion dishes, this is a must-try specialty!!!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥

Inaniwa sesame tsuyu: the bowl worth repeating
This is the inaniwa sesame tsuyu udon I ordered! It's a dish where thin, soft inaniwa noodles are dipped into a savory sesame sauce ✨ The deep sesame flavor that fills your mouth is so appealing you never get tired of it. This is the menu I get every single time I come ☺️

Soft-boiled egg tempura: the side to add
This is the soft-boiled egg tempura I always add as a side when I come here 💛🥚💛 Cut the golden-fried tempura in half and inside the crispy batter you'll find the yolk kept moist and runny at a perfect soft-boil. The richness of the yolk after that crispy bite is just excellent, and it's even better dipped in the tumbang cream sauce or the bukkake tsuyu sauce. If you come, don't forget to try this soft-boiled egg tempura too!!!
Is Udon-i Wanseongdoeda worth another visit?
This is a place I visit often as a regular, but every time I come I fall for the noodle texture and deep flavors all over again. From the refreshing bukkake to the cream udon, every dish is so well made that even on my Nth revisit it's always delicious 😋 If you're looking for a Mokpo lunch spot, or want to try proper Japanese-style udon to blow away the summer heat, be sure to visit "Udon-i Wanseongdoeda" near Mokpo Peace Plaza!
