I was craving spicy jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) so I went to "Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch," a solo-dining favorite near Yeoksam Station. It's popular not just for lunch but for dinner too — even with groups having company dinners.

🅿️ Parking available. You can use the lot in front of the restaurant, and weekday lunch is free self-parking. After 15:00 on weekdays / after 10:00 am on weekends, valet is available (₩3,000).
It's hard to find a Chinese restaurant with parking near Yeoksam Station, so having a lot right in front makes it easy to visit for group gatherings or company dinners too.
Inside the restaurant: seats that work for eating alone

The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, up the stairs on the right. There's a spacious waiting area outside, so even if there's a wait at lunchtime, you can wait comfortably.

Inside there are plenty of 2-person and 4-person tables. As a Chinese restaurant with proper dine-in seating, it's clean and fairly large.

It works for a Yeoksam lunch as well as a company dinner, and the vibe is fine for eating alone too. While I was eating, since it was dinnertime, solo diners kept coming in one after another. There's also a baby chair, so it's fine to visit with kids.
How to order, and what we ordered at Jjamppong Jijon

You order via tablet. Both prepay and pay-later were possible at the table.
- Jijon jjamppong (basic flavor) ₩13,000
- Jjamjjamyeon ₩14,000
- Sweet and sour pork ₩20,000

Since this place is known for spicy jjamppong, even the basic flavor was plenty spicy and delicious. And of course sweet and sour pork — a must-order at any Chinese restaurant!
What's on the self-serve bar?

The self-serve bar is free to use. Kimchi, rice, pickled radish, jjachai (pickled mustard greens), water, small plates, scissors, tongs, aprons —

— ladles, baby spoons and forks, and even hair ties for female customers are all ready.

Staff bring water and pickled radish out first, and everything else is free to grab from the self-serve bar. You can set up your side dishes there before the food comes out.

How spicy is the basic jijon jjamppong?
The jjamppong was loaded with ingredients, absolutely packed!!

The broth looked rich at a glance and had a strong smoky wok flavor. One sip and the smokiness rose gently, with meat, seafood, and vegetables clearly stir-fried well before simmering — the broth flavor was noticeably deep.

There was a quail egg in it and plenty of noodles, so just one bowl was filling, and I got a bowl of rice to mix in and ended up really full!!

Even the basic flavor wasn't too spicy — about Sinramyeon (instant ramyeon) level — so even a spice wimp could handle it fine. I can't really eat spicy food, but it's the kind of delicious spicy that makes me keep choosing the basic flavor every time I come.
If you want it spicier, Hell level costs an extra ₩500.
Jjamjjamyeon: half jjajangmyeon, half jjamppong for 14,000 won

I picked jjamjjamyeon (half jjamppong, half jjajangmyeon) because I wanted jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) too!

The jjajangmyeon had that sweet black bean sauce flavor!! Mix it up well and it just slides right in~~~

Alternating between it and the jjamppong, I finished it all instantly. There's plenty of black bean sauce too, so mixing it with rice basically gives you jjajang rice.
Sweet and sour pork at 20,000 won

It has that glutinous-rice sweet and sour pork feel, fried crispy, and comes with the sauce drizzled over only half along with onions, so you can do both sauce-on and dip-style at once.

The meat is thick and the batter is soft, so dipping it in the tangy sauce was delicious!

Pairing the spicy jjamppong with the sweet and tangy sweet and sour pork was a perfect match!! The batter was white too, which made it feel like they use clean oil.
