Gwangalli Chinese bar, 4 p.m. booking to skip the wait: Mirim Yangjang

In short

Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli branch is a Chinese restaurant-bar specializing in Peking duck near Gwangalli Beach in Suyeong, Busan. After booking on Naver, the writer visited at 4 p.m. (the restaurant has no break time) and had half a Peking duck and truffle shumai for 50,000 won in total. The duck had no gamey smell and wasn't tough, and the shumai was full of juice. To avoid the peak-hour wait at Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli branch, book ahead and go at an in-between hour.

As someone who absolutely loves Peking duck, how could I not know Mirim Yangjang? Anyone who loves Peking duck knows it. I was searching for Gwangalli restaurants and Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli popped up! When did Mirim Yangjang open in Gwangalli after Seomyeon?! Haha. I went straight over.

How do you park at Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli?

Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli branch is at 4-3 Gwanganhaebyeon-ro 295beon-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan (1st floor). I used a nearby parking lot, which cost ₩4,000 per hour. If you eat quickly and take a short stroll around Gwangalli, it comes to about an hour, so I highly recommend that route.

The exterior is neat and stylish. I've been dying to go to China lately, and Mirim Yangjang gave me a little trip there for a moment.

The interior is clean and sophisticated, very Mirim Yangjang, with a faultless, standout design.

It has a clean, no-fuss feel. There is group seating and the space is quite large, so it looked like it could hold a lot of people. I'd strongly recommend it for company dinners and get-togethers too.

I could even see the Peking duck being aged. It's Mirim Yangjang's signature dish, so I recommend trying it.

When should you go to Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli to avoid a wait?

Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli is so popular that there is always a wait at peak hours, so I recommend reserving on Naver in advance like we did. We went at 4 p.m., which avoids mealtimes. I was told that at peak hours, since so many people love the place, a wait is a must.

Best of all, Mirim Yangjang has no break time, which made it perfect.

How does the Peking duck at Mirim Yangjang taste?

Not long after ordering, the half duck was ready! Wow! The wraps you eat the duck with, plus all the fixings. I heard Mirim Yangjang's Peking duck is dried and roasted for at least 30 hours.

Do I even need to say how famous the Peking duck is? Every Busan local knows Mirim Yangjang.

Mirim Yangjang was one of those spots people lined up for even during the COVID years. Even I, who live in Changwon, know it.

This is the Peking duck I really wanted to eat, sob. At places that don't do it well, it just smells, it's tough, and it's all grease, so I can't eat it. Real Peking duck is only delicious if you go to a place that does it well!

What does the truffle shumai at Mirim Yangjang taste like?

Mirim Yangjang's truffle shumai is a dim sum (small steamed dumpling) packed with shrimp, pork and truffle, four pieces for ₩11,000. The truffle shumai finally arrived. I love truffle and shrimp, so how was I supposed to resist? I couldn't.

Full of truffle aroma, full of juice! The shrimp pops when you bite it, the kind of first bite that makes you automatically go "mmm." The juices leaking out made it especially delicious.

Is Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli worth recommending?

Half a Peking duck and truffle shumai! These are the dishes you can try at Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli, and if you're looking for a distinctive Gwangalli restaurant, I strongly recommend it.

Mirim Yangjang lets you eat Peking duck more cheaply than in China, so enjoy the truffle shumai too. You won't envy China at all!
