Brunch café by Ulsan City Hall with grilled sandwiches: Benetto

I visited Benetto (베네또) near Ulsan City Hall with my husband and child on a weekend. We had already eaten, so we stopped in for drinks and dessert, but I also wanted to try a sandwich and ordered one to share.

How close is it to Ulsan City Hall, and where did I park?

Benetto is on the first floor at 4 Jungang-ro 213beon-gil, Nam-gu, Ulsan, South Korea (울산 남구 중앙로213번길 4, 1층). When we got there, it was right beside Ulsan City Hall. It was listed as opening in the morning, but I did not record the exact opening hours in my original post.

There was no dedicated parking, so I parked on the street that day. At the time, I understood that parking enforcement was suspended from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., but whether street parking is permitted during those hours needs to be checked.

What was the atmosphere like with a child?

The wood tones made the café feel warm as soon as we walked in. It felt like a comfortable place to sit and chat.

The interior was small, with about five or six tables. When I go to a café with my child, I prefer somewhere relaxed where we can eat and drink comfortably, and we had a leisurely time together that day.

What did we order, and how much did it cost?

There were drinks besides coffee, and the café also sold coffee beans separately.

There were also notices about discounts for takeout and bringing your own tumbler. Several sandwiches were available, and I chose the jambon (ham) basil grilled sandwich.

How were the latte and affogato?

I shared the sandwich with my husband, and my child had the iced tea. I had the latte and affogato.

The latte had a nutty richness that suited my taste. My child took the iced tea as soon as it arrived and started drinking it.

For the affogato, I asked for the espresso shot separately so I could give my child a little of the ice cream. They prepared it that way for us that day.

The vanilla ice cream was topped with granola.

With the coffee added, the ice cream tasted sweet and pleasantly bitter, and I liked the crunch of the granola. It was a good choice for having coffee and dessert together.

How did the jambon basil grilled sandwich taste?

The jambon basil grilled sandwich was grilled after we ordered and arrived warm. It was crisp outside and moist inside, which gave it a lovely texture.

The salty jambon went well with the basil aroma. The basil was gentle rather than overpowering, making the sandwich easy to enjoy.

I like sandwiches that are light yet savory and a little salty, with a basil aroma, so I enjoyed it. Since we had already eaten, sharing one with my husband was a nice light snack.

Was it a good place for a light brunch?

I liked being able to have a sandwich, coffee, and dessert in one place. The café was small, but we felt comfortable spending time there with our child that day. The lack of dedicated parking was a drawback, but I would keep it in mind when I want a sandwich and a drink near Ulsan City Hall.
