Jeju City indoor attraction with grandma and package ticket: Nohyeong

Last weekend I went on a trip to Jeju with my child. The weather was great and since it had been a while since our last trip, I was looking for somewhere a little different to check out — and that's how we ended up at Nohyeong Supermarket, on Nohyeong-ro in Jeju City.

Just hearing the name, it sounds like some old-school supermarket, but it's actually an immersive media art space using light, video, and music. I was looking for kid-friendly things to do in Jeju City and found this place — and since it's near Jeju Airport, we went straight there on the day we landed!!

Where is Nohyeong Supermarket, and how long from Jeju Airport?

Nohyeong Supermarket is about 10 minutes by car from Jeju Airport, so it's quite close! The parking lot is huge, so you can visit comfortably. Honestly, from the outside it kind of gave off nightclub vibes!?!? It's supposed to be a media art zone, but the look of it was pretty unusual.

Nohyeong Supermarket tickets: entry fee, package ticket and the kiosk

The moment you walk through the entrance, the vibe is a bit different from a typical exhibition. Passing through a space decorated entirely in black and white, I felt like I'd stepped into an old screen. Right as you enter on 1F, there's a ticket booth on the right, plus a souvenir shop and a café.

Look around once, then grab a coffee — browsing the souvenir shop was fun too. I'll write about the Nohyeong Dabang menu later. Here's the info on Nohyeong Supermarket's ticket booth entry fees.

You can pay by kiosk, and there's simply an entry fee and a package fee. Note that discounted rates apply for veterans, disabled visitors, military, seniors, and so on. It was on the pamphlet, but I didn't catch it in time so my mom missed out on the senior discount ㅠㅠ We got the package ticket :-)

Right past the entrance, a series of black-and-white spaces continue.

There were quite a lot of old photos on display too, which was fun to look through. Since this trip was with my mom and my child together, my mom got a bit nostalgic looking at all this.

This is the starting space, Nohyeong Supermarket itself. Even older than my own childhood — more like my mom's era, I guess? The overall black-and-white color scheme made a pretty strong first impression. The staff at the entrance warned us it might startle the kids a little. It suddenly goes dark and you hear an old man's voice — kids might get scared at that point, so keep an eye on them.

While we were browsing around inside the supermarket, just like the staff said, the lights suddenly went out and we heard an old man's voice. Then a vending machine opened up into a whole new door!!

Warang-warang and Gopeullak: the media art halls with the robot scene

A new door opens inside the supermarket, and from here on you see a lot more color. It feels like the storyline is really solid? After being in the black-and-white space, the sudden burst of color feels even more spectacular and stunning??

Each zone has its own name, like Berongberong and the Fog Room, and they're all set up great for photos — just move through slowly and take pictures. There's no set time limit! This is the main hall, Warang-warang, the main media art hall, and the scale of it was truly huge and grand!

A total of seven themed media shows play out here, and it was great for taking some pretty impressive photos — plus kids can run around and have fun! Totally recommend it as an indoor spot in Jeju to visit with kids. Actually, up until this point, my child was running around happily, but then suddenly this robot appeared on the screen and.............. got super scared, haha.

Hahahahahahahahaha, hahahahahahahaha — ended up clinging to grandma. It was a little scary, ngl, haha. But mom still diligently took photos the whole time.

Cheongbori gaeyeok and strawberry jumulleok at Nohyeong Dabang

After going around the whole loop, we had a drink at Nohyeong Dabang (노형다방).

There were quite a lot of drink options. Since I bought the package, the included drinks had some limits, but there were still drinks you can only get in Jeju, which was nice. We ordered an americano, cheongboribogyeoak (roasted barley grain drink), and strawberry jumulleok (strawberry latte).

It was misutgaru (roasted grain powder drink), strawberry latte, and an americano — all tasty, and we enjoyed them.

Nohyeong Supermarket was the perfect indoor Jeju spot to slot into an itinerary on a day when the weather is uncertain. It's easy to move around, there are plenty of photo spots, and it fits well with a schedule near the airport — if you're looking for an indoor tourist attraction in Jeju, it's worth a visit.

Is Nohyeong Supermarket worth it with a child and grandmother?

If you're traveling around Jeju with your child and want to check out a space that's a bit different from usual, Nohyeong Supermarket is worth experiencing at least once. That said, rather than calling it a place kids will 'definitely love,' it really depends on the kid's personality — some might find it fun, others might get a bit scared like ours did, so keep that in mind before visiting. Our child was a little scared, but we still counted it as one more unique experience added to the trip and had fun checking it out :)
