Jeju pizza with black pork bulgogi and cheese: Happiness Pizza

Happiness Pizza (해피니스피자) is a pizza restaurant near Halla University in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju, that my family often visited from its early days. They even remembered that we like adding extra cheese to our cheese pizza. I had previously written about visiting at my own expense, and this time I returned after a long while through a new opportunity.

What is the shop like, and what should you know before visiting?

At the entrance, an electronic board showing the number of pizzas sold for takeout caught my eye. I remembered often seeing this shop’s pizza boxes while passing through the neighborhood.

The shop is small and neatly decorated with colorful accent colors.

A slaughterhouse inspection certificate posted among the posters on the wall also caught my attention. Knowing that the restaurant uses Jeju-grown meat gave me more confidence in the ingredients. One drawback, though, was that there is no restroom inside the shop.

How much are the takeout discounts, and how long does an order take?

My family often takes advantage of takeout discounts. These were the discounts and add-on offers listed during this visit.

• Basic takeout orders received ₩6,000 off the menu price.
• On “The Happy Day,” held on the 7th and 27th of each month, takeout orders could receive a ₩7,000 discount.
• As part of the Takeout Special Event, one smoked whole chicken leg or Cheese Full M could each be added for ₩10,000.

After ordering, it takes about 15–20 minutes. Calling ahead to place a takeout order should help reduce the waiting time.

What does the black pork bulgogi and cheese pizza taste like?

I had planned to add cheese to the black pork bulgogi pizza that day, but the owner recommended a half-and-half combination after considering our usual preferences. That let us try both black pork bulgogi and cheese flavors together.

Even the M size came generously topped. This was my first time trying the black pork bulgogi, which had a sweet and salty soy sauce-based seasoning that did not taste overwhelming.

The large pieces of meat made the texture stand out. Thick onion helped cut through the richness. The cheese pizza had a deep flavor and substantial nuttiness, and my five-year-old ate it happily as usual.

How were the spaghetti and fries we ordered with the pizza?

The cheese oven spaghetti arrived freshly baked, steaming with cheese stretching into long strands. The tomato sauce had a strong aroma and the cheese layer was thick, making it an easy side to eat with the pizza.

The snowing fries were evenly coated with sweet and salty seasoning powder. It went well with the savory potatoes, and I kept reaching for more.

Is it suitable for a family meal or takeout?

For my family, this is a place where the balance of toppings and rich cheese flavor have stayed consistent. The half-and-half pizza and sides we ordered this time were easy to share. After visiting Halla University or Tamna Library, it could work for lunch, or you could take it home on the way back from work to share with your family.
