Sillim Station pizza with chipotle mayo wings: Pug Pizza House

Pug Pizza House is a pizza place near Sillim Station that's well worth knowing. The menu is wide, from pizza to sides, so it's great if you want a proper, filling meal. And if you're looking for somewhere to eat comfortably with your dog, check the pet zone rules before you go and you'll have an even better time.

Where is Pug Pizza House Sillim Branch?

Pug Pizza House Sillim Branch (퍼그피자하우스 신림점) is at 363 Sillim-ro, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, toward Exit 6 of Sillim Station.

Every time I passed by, the big three-story building caught my eye, and I kept thinking I should try it someday. This weekend I finally did!

Pug Pizza House 3rd-floor pet zone: which pets are allowed?

The whole third floor of Pug Pizza House Sillim Branch is a pet zone, so both dogs and cats are welcome. Small to medium dogs are fine, but dangerous breeds and large dogs can't come in. Pets that haven't been vaccinated are also not allowed, so keep that in mind!

As I walked in, I also saw a sign saying you get ₩5,000 off when you come in person for takeout.

Floor by floor: from the 1st-floor neon sign to the 2nd-floor window seats

Walk into the 1st floor and the blue neon sign and checkered floor stand out. Overall it felt hip and upbeat, like an American restaurant. The wall along the stairs up to the 2nd floor even has autographs from celebrities.

The 2nd floor gets lots of sunlight through the windows, so it felt cozy. One side has 2 high chairs for little kids, so it looked easy to come with the whole family.

I also went up to look at the 3rd-floor pet zone. It's very spacious, with pet booths and a photo zone set up in a cute way.

If you're bringing a pet, it's a good idea to read the pet zone notes beforehand.

The 3rd-floor self zone has dog cushions plus water bowls and snack bowls made for pets, which felt really thoughtful.

The menu had plenty of choices: set menus, dough sandwiches, half-and-half pizzas and even Chicago pizza. The sides, such as flat bagels, New York buffalo wings, chipotle mayo wings, shrimp rings and mochi cheese balls, all looked good with pizza.

What stood out most was the pet-only menu. Items like Wal Pizza, Walwal Chicken and Walwalwal Sweet Potato Bread are so cute in both name and shape that you'll want to order one if you come with your dog.

To eat comfortably as two people, we picked the XR size and ordered a half-and-half pizza, then added an edge upgrade, sides, drinks and sauces. Done!

Which sauces are at the self-service bar?

The self zone has water, plates, cutlery and pickles, plus a good range of sauces like truffle mayo, chipotle, ranch and garlic dipping sauce, so you can grab whatever you like.

And finally our order arrived! Everything came out at the same time, so we could taste it all in one go without breaking the flow, which was nice.

First, the mini salad that comes with any half-and-half pizza got our appetite going. The vegetables were fresh, not limp, so it was perfect to eat between bites of pizza and sides.

The cheese spaghetti has a golden-baked top. When I lifted it with a fork, the cheese stretched out heavily, so they clearly didn't skimp. Twirling the noodles, I found the tomato sauce clung to them instead of sliding off. It tasted familiar, and I kept going back for more.

The chipotle mayo wings come on tender chicken with plenty of spicy, creamy chipotle sauce drizzled over. It's not a sharp heat that hits your tongue; it's a gentle, wrapping spiciness, and it's excellent.

Best half-and-half combo: Classic Delight + Amazing Shrimp

Now the main event, the half-and-half pizza. I'd recommend the two we ordered, 'Classic Delight' and 'Amazing Shrimp'.

What does the Classic Delight pizza taste like?

Classic Delight is a back-to-basics pizza on a tomato base, topped with onion, button mushrooms, green pepper, pepperoni and bacon.

The first bite isn't overly strong; it's mild, so you don't get tired of it.

If you want something a bit punchier, putting a little chipotle sauce from the self bar on top is good too!

What does the Amazing Shrimp pizza taste like?

Amazing Shrimp is topped with big whole shrimp, fire-grilled bulgogi (marinated beef), popping corn, bacon chips and even seasoned potato chips, so the textures are really varied. Add a little garlic dipping sauce and everything blends together smoothly, making the flavor even richer.

With so many sauces at the self bar, mixing a different combo for each slice was a lot of fun. And thanks to the whole-cheese milk crust we added, we finished even the edges, nutty and delicious, without leaving any.
