While hunting for a good pork belly spot in Nam-gu, Busan, I made my way to Donnamu Jip in Daeyeon-dong. This place serves Jiri Mountain pork belly, and what I loved was being able to throw napa cabbage kimchi, mustard leaf kimchi, mushrooms and potatoes on the grill along with the meat. We paired the pork belly with soju and Terra, and finished off with banga (Korean mint) doenjang stew and gondre rice. Of everything we ate, the perilla oil gondre rice we had at the end stuck with me the most. If you're looking for pork belly in Daeyeon-dong or near Kyungsung University, this one's worth checking out :)
Where is Donnamu Jip in Daeyeon-dong, Busan?

📍 Donnamu Jip, Daeyeon-dong. Since it's located in Daeyeon-dong, it's a good place to check out when you're looking for pork belly near Kyungsung University·Pukyong National University Station. It works well for grilling meat over drinks, and with a solid lineup of meal menu items too, it's also great for an evening that combines dinner with drinks.
What is Donnamu Jip like inside?

The place had the relaxed feel of a typical Korean BBQ spot where you can sit comfortably and grill meat. We visited in the evening and ordered pork belly along with soju and Terra. It was a comfortable atmosphere for grilling meat, chatting, and having a drink.

Above all, it wasn't just meat, meat, meat — being able to throw mushrooms, potatoes, and kimchi on the grill too made for a fun variety of things to nibble on throughout the meal.
Donnamu Jip menu and what we ordered

Donnamu Jip's main menu item is Jiri Mountain pork belly, which you can order as a full or half plate. The meal menu includes pork kimchi stew, banga doenjang stew, gondre rice, yeolmu-roll noodles, and paldo bibim noodles, and there's a good range of drinks too — soju, Terra, Yi Gang Ju, Ilpum Jinro and more. Note that the pork kimchi stew is limited to 5 servings a day, and the gondre rice takes about 15–20 minutes after ordering. We ordered a plate of Jiri Mountain pork belly, soju, Terra, a soft drink, banga doenjang stew, and gondre rice.
Jiri Mountain pork belly and kimchi grilled on the plate

We put the Jiri Mountain pork belly we ordered on the grill and cooked it to a nice golden brown. As we grilled the meat, we were also able to grill the mushrooms and potatoes that came alongside it.

The mushrooms were fine to eat as is, but grilling them briefly on the plate really brought out more aroma and texture, and the potatoes, slowly cooked to a golden brown, went great alongside the meat. And there was one more thing about Donnamu Jip that I really liked.

You could grill both the napa cabbage kimchi and the mustard leaf kimchi! We put both kinds of kimchi on the grill along with the pork belly, and since the two kimchis had different textures, it was fun to alternate between them.

As the kimchi cooked slightly in the meat's rendered fat, the flavor deepened even more, and topping a piece of pork belly with grilled kimchi confirmed for me that meat and kimchi really are inseparable. Add a shot of soju and a glass of Terra on top of that, and the pork belly vibe was really something. Haha. If you're looking for pork belly in Nam-gu, Busan and want to enjoy the meat along with a variety of sides, I think this place is a solid choice.
Finishing with banga doenjang stew and perilla oil gondre rice

We also had the banga doenjang stew that we ordered alongside the pork belly. Taking a spoonful of the warm doenjang stew in between bites of meat reset the palate each time, and it went well with rice too.

And the gondre rice we ordered last is a dish I really want to recommend. It does take about 15–20 minutes, but it was worth the wait.
When the gondre rice arrives, they drizzle perilla oil over it, and once you mix it well, a nutty aroma really rises up.

And then we wrapped the gondre rice in the seaweed that came with it, and this combination was truly the best. The distinct aroma of gondre, the nuttiness of the perilla oil, and the salty flavor of the seaweed all came together, and I kept reaching for more. After eating our fill of pork belly and grilled kimchi, finishing with the gondre rice made for a really satisfying wrap-up. Personally, if I go back to Donnamu Jip, I'll definitely order the gondre rice again.
Would I go back to Donnamu Jip?

Overall, Donnamu Jip is a solid choice if you're looking for pork belly in Nam-gu, Busan. We got to enjoy the meat in a variety of ways — grilling the Jiri Mountain pork belly with napa cabbage kimchi and mustard leaf kimchi, plus mushrooms and potatoes.

On top of that, we had banga doenjang stew alongside, and finished with perilla oil gondre rice, which made it great for enjoying both a proper meal and drinks together.
This place would especially suit people who love the combination of grilled kimchi and pork belly, people who like a drink while eating meat, and people who'd rather have a full meal than just meat alone. Above all, I most recommend the perilla oil gondre rice. If you're looking for pork belly near Daeyeon-dong or Kyungsung University, try the Jiri Mountain pork belly, the grilled kimchi, and finish it off with the gondre rice at Donnamu Jip. 😊
