Asan Techno Valley galbi restaurant for late company dinners: Ilpum
In short
Ilpum Chamsut Galbi is a charcoal-grilled pork galbi restaurant in the main commercial district of Asan Techno Valley in Dunpo-myeon, Asan, Chungnam. The writer went late in the evening to this regular company-dinner spot of their group and had the free side dishes of spicy marinated crab, spicy skate salad and muksabal (acorn jelly in cold broth), then charcoal-grilled galbi and naengmyeon (cold noodles) to finish. Ilpum Chamsut Galbi has no weak spot from side dishes to mains, making it a solid pick for family meals or company dinners.

What kind of place is Ilpum Chamsut Galbi?
Ilpum Chamsut Galbi is a charcoal galbi restaurant in Dunpo, Asan, where my companion Gyugyu often goes for company dinners. I really love meat! Galbi grilled over charcoal is something I crave regularly, haha. And I can never forget the delicious galbi Gyugyu grills for me. Ilpum Chamsut Galbi is where Gyugyu holds company dinners from time to time, so it's Gyugyu's go-to galbi spot!

Where is Ilpum Chamsut Galbi in Asan Techno Valley, and how is the parking?
Ilpum Chamsut Galbi is in Dunpo, right in the central commercial area of Asan Techno Valley, so it's easy to reach and easy to park, which makes it a good spot for family meals or group dinners. When I walked in, there were so many people eating, from families to office groups. The atmosphere was something special, as you'd expect from a galbi place loved for so long!
Parked up, and off we go to eat some delicious galbi! Whoosh!!!

Is it still busy late in the evening?
Even though I visited late, there were really a lot of customers. High chairs are available too, and despite the late hour, so many people, right? Until I finished eating and left, it was a truly popular spot!!!

Ilpum Chamsut Galbi menu
First of all, as the name suggests, it's a pork galbi specialist...!!! They also have Jeju pork belly, fresh pork neck and Emperor galbi meat, and at lunchtime there's a jeyuk jeongsik (spicy stir-fried pork set).
For meals they have nurungji (scorched rice), mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth), bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) and stone-pot rice, and I heard the stone-pot rice is cooked to order!

First, the charcoal comes in!!!

What are the basic side dishes like?
The basic side dishes at Ilpum Chamsut Galbi are generous: seasoned raw crab, skate salad, mukbap-style acorn jelly soup and a salad. The sides were the first thing that wowed me after sitting down! Honestly, I check the side dishes first at any meat restaurant, and Ilpum Chamsut Galbi could fairly be called a side-dish specialist. Usually a meat place serves just kimchi or a salad, you know?
The seasoned crab in particular had plump meat and such good seasoning that I almost polished off a bowl of rice before the meat even arrived, haha. The skate salad was sweet and tangy and really woke up my appetite, and the acorn jelly soup was cool and just right to have between bites of galbi. Even the basic sides alone were top-level satisfying! I also found plenty of reviews saying the sides come out generously.

How does the charcoal-grilled galbi taste?
The main dish of the day was the galbi at Ilpum Chamsut Galbi! Since it's grilled over real charcoal, the smoky aroma rose up the moment it hit the grill, and it was really hard to wait, haha.
The meat was thick yet tender, and the marinade soaked in without being overpowering, a flavor anyone would like. After the first bite I immediately understood why it's famous as an Asan Techno Valley favorite. The subtle charcoal smoke brought out the meat's flavor, it was full of juice, and the savory taste got better the more I chewed. The meat was fresh too, so I could enjoy it cleanly with no gamey smell.

Dessert naengmyeon after the galbi
After eating a good amount of galbi, you can't skip the naengmyeon (cold noodles)! Naengmyeon after meat is truly the golden rule, haha. Chewy noodles in cold broth paired fantastically with the galbi. After the sweet-salty galbi, one bite of naengmyeon left my mouth feeling perfectly cleansed!
Even though I was full, it was the kind of taste that kept going down, so I finished the meal very satisfied. What I liked most was that, besides the tasty meat and naengmyeon, you could strongly feel the care put into every single side dish. These days many places have good meat but ordinary sides, but at Ilpum Chamsut Galbi nothing is lacking, from the sides to the main.
Who is Ilpum Chamsut Galbi for?
If you're looking for a place for a family meal, a company dinner, or you just have a craving for good galbi, I recommend Ilpum Chamsut Galbi in Asan! I plan to go back next time with my parents, haha. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Asan Techno Valley, do give it a visit :)
