Yonghwa-dong shabu-shabu restaurant in Asan: spicy broth at Shabu20
In short
Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch is an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu restaurant on the second floor of the Hanaro Mart building in Yonghwa-dong, Asan, Chungnam. The writer went for the Sunday dinner course (100 minutes, 29,900 won) and had two pots of spicy broth with beef, Vietnamese rice paper rolls, LA galbi, dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken) and draft beer, finishing with ice cream topped with injeolmi (rice cake with bean powder). The spicy broth at Shabu20 tasted clean rather than salty or fiery, and dinner through dessert was covered in one seat.

Today I visited Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch, an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu spot in Yonghwa-dong (Sinyonghwa-dong), Asan! It's a great place to enjoy everything from shabu-shabu to dessert, so let me give you an honest review.
Where is Shabu20 Asan Onyang, and where do you park?
Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch is on the 2nd floor of the Hanaro Mart building at 246 Nambu-ro, Asan. Parking is free for 3 hours, so if you're driving, keep that in mind!

You can also join a waitlist through Catch Table, but on both my lunch and dinner visits I got seated right away, which was great.
There's a waiting area right outside the restaurant, so you can wait indoors too! No problem in freezing winter or hot summer!

Every table has a friendly guide on how to enjoy shabu-shabu, so if this is your first visit, give it a read!

What the dining room feels like on a Sunday dinner visit
At Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch they told us we could sit at any open table, so I picked a spot by the window haha ✔️ This visit was for weekend (Sunday) dinner, and it was so packed that to properly show you the self-serve bar and seating layout, I'm using photos I took during a lunch visit instead ✔️

The spacing between seats is decent and there are plenty of tables, so it's great for groups, and with high chairs available it also works well if you're coming with a baby!

What to grab from the Shabu20 self-serve bar
If there's one thing you absolutely, definitely must try at the Shabu20 self-serve bar, it's the LA galbi (LA-style short ribs) and dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken)! The lunch and dinner lineups are the same — only the price and time limit differ — so come whenever works for you and enjoy them alongside the shabu-shabu!

You can go help yourself to as much pork or beef as you want from the meat fridge, nicknamed the "meat house."
The sauces and vegetables at the self-serve bar were set up hygienically and neatly — it looked good just to see it! Staff kept clearing and refilling things regularly too.

Unlimited draft beer, plus lunch and dinner prices
Sauce bar, vegetable bar, soft drinks, fruit juice, a coffee machine, and even unlimited beer!
- Lunch: ₩24,900
- Dinner: ₩29,900
For this price, it's the best value you can get!

Next to the drinks corner there's also rice paper and hot water set aside just for it!

Just prep the rice paper roll vegetables to your taste, plus beef and vegetables for the shabu-shabu, and all that's left is to eat!

LA galbi and dakgangjeong: go for the soy sauce version
The LA galbi and dakgangjeong at Shabu20 are non-negotiable!!! My friend who came with me joked that Shabu20 is a shabu-shabu place but also secretly an LA galbi place lol. For the dakgangjeong, I'd recommend the soy sauce flavor over the sweet-spicy sauce version!

How does the spicy broth taste with the beef?
I ordered two pots of just the spicy broth, and it wasn't overly salty or spicy at all — such a clean, mild spicy broth that I really loved it.

The beef was delicious too, and I looked it up — apparently Shabu20 uses top-grade beef!!
They bring out fresh LA galbi every 15 minutes!
Dessert at Shabu20: ice cream topped with injeolmi
Even dessert is all-you-can-eat at Shabu20! I love the combo of ice cream topped with injeolmi (soft rice cake coated in bean powder) from the self-serve bar! The injeolmi was soft and chewy, and the ice cream had a rich milk flavor, so even the dessert was satisfying!! Being able to get a full meal plus a café-style dessert at Shabu20 makes it such great value, don't you think!!!
