In short

Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch is an all-you-can-eat beef and pork shabu-shabu restaurant on the second floor of a building on Nambu-ro, near Sinjeongho Lake in Asan, Chungnam. On the weekday 80-minute lunch course, the writer chose the spicy broth and added salad-bar dishes such as dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken), LA galbi and fresh vegetables for rice-paper rolls, ending with an ice cream affogato. With parking for 300 cars free for 3 hours, Shabu20 is an easy meal stop before or after a trip to Sinjeongho Lake.

Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch

Today I'm bringing you my review of Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch, an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu restaurant where you can enjoy fresh meat and vegetables without limits. It's right near Sinjeongho Lake, so it's a great spot to stop by for a weekend outing. The meat quality exceeded my expectations and the self-serve bar was so well put together that I had a really satisfying meal.

Let me give you an honest, detailed review!

Where is Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch? Hours and parking

Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch is on the 2nd floor at 246 Nambu-ro, Asan-si, Chungnam, and is open 11:00–22:00 (last order 20:50). Parking is in the building's lot, free for 3 hours, with space for up to 300 cars.

  • 🧭 Location: 246 Nambu-ro, 2nd floor, Asan-si, Chungcheongnam-do
  • ⏰ Hours: 11:00 – 22:00 (last order 20:50)
  • 🚗 Parking: Building parking lot (free for 3 hours / up to 300 cars)

📌 Parking for 300 cars! A comfortable, spacious setup — parking is always one of the biggest headaches when picking a place to eat or meet up, but Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch has such a large dedicated lot that I never had to worry about it. Plus with 3 hours of free parking, you can take your time all the way from the meal through dessert.

It's also just a 5-minute drive from Sinjeongho, one of Asan's signature spots, so it's a perfect stop before or after a walk around Sinjeongho Lake Park. If you're looking for a family gathering spot or a date spot near Sinjeongho in Asan, this is it.

Inside Shabu20: was there a wait at 12:30 p.m.?

From the entrance, Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch stood out with its clean wood-tone interior. We visited around 12:30 and were seated right away, no wait.

The restaurant is spacious with generous spacing between tables, so it's great for family gatherings, work dinners, or dates. I actually ended up visiting Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch on a recommendation from a friend in my neighborhood — she'd already been several times.

They have plenty of children's tableware and high chairs ready, so if you're coming with a baby, take note.

Menu and how-to-order guide at Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch

We went with the all-you-can-eat pork & beef shabu-shabu weekday 80-minute lunch course. There's a wide range of broth choices! You can pick 2 out of katsuobushi, soybean, spicy, hot pot, and sukiyaki broths for a half-and-half pot. On my friend's recommendation, we went with just the spicy broth alone, and after tasting it, I understood why she suggested it. If you like a spicy, hearty broth, I recommend it!

🥗 What's on the salad bar: dakgangjeong, LA galbi, tteokbokki

After picking the broth, we headed to the salad bar, and it had all of this included. It's clear why Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch is known as an Asan buffet with such a solid selection of side dishes, not just shabu-shabu vegetables.

Side dishes arranged on the salad bar

Crispy, sweet dakgangjeong (Korean fried chicken)

The fried chicken (dakgangjeong) comes in two flavors — soy sauce and sweet-spicy sauce — so even kids ate it happily. All the other salad bar dishes at Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch were tasty too, but the fried chicken genuinely surprised me. It tasted like it came straight from a specialty fried chicken shop — moist inside, crispy outside, probably because they keep re-frying fresh batches. At a lot of buffets, the fried chicken ends up dry and stale, but Shabu20 was different. Make sure to grab a generous helping.

LA galbi and hambak steak (Korean-style Salisbury steak)

The Salisbury steak was soft and delicious, and the LA-style beef short ribs were tender and juicy too — they cook fresh batches every 15 minutes. LA galbi in particular was so popular that customers rushed over the moment a new batch came out. I waited it out, came back every 15 minutes, and grabbed some when the crowd thinned.

Doesn't this tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) look amazing? Visually on point 👍. The tteokbokki that everyone loves and the savory fried rice — the quality of even the basic dishes was excellent.

🥬 Fresh vegetables and rice-paper rolls at the self bar

Bean sprouts, bok choy, various mushrooms, and colorful, fresh vegetables and rice paper for Vietnamese-style rolls were all neatly arranged. I picked out vegetables to add to the shabu-shabu pot as well as vegetables for the rice paper rolls. You can tell how fresh everything looks in the photos too.

You can mix your own sauces to taste. There are three sauce compartments to fill, so I made a soy-sauce base, a chili sauce, and a sesame dressing — having three different flavors kept things interesting all the way through the meal without getting tired of any one taste.

🍲 Unlimited beef and pork: how good was the meat?

The heart of Shabu20 is really the unlimited meat counter! Unlike most all-you-can-eat places, this restaurant butchers the meat right after you order, so the freshness and condition of the meat were on another level.

🥩 Why the beef at Shabu20 stood out

Shabu20 uses only top-grade pork and beef (GF Choice grade), and maybe that's why the beef and pork looked such a vivid red, neatly trimmed along the grain — it was mouthwatering just to look at.

Once the broth was simmering, we loaded it up with vegetables, and when it was bubbling well, we added the beef and gently swished it around. The tender texture and savory beef aroma filled every bite. Dipped lightly in the special chili sauce, sesame sauce, or soy sauce, it was truly something to sigh over.

The meat quality was so tender it was hard to believe it was all-you-can-eat, and the pairing with the broth was so good I lost count of how many refills we went through! The color of the meat looks great, doesn't it? That's how tender and delicious it was.

A tip for ordering the spicy broth

Here's a tip from my friend, who's been many times: start with the basic spicy broth, then about halfway through, add minced garlic and chopped cheongyang chili peppers and bring it to a boil — it gets even spicier and more addictive!! Eating it this way brings out a whole new flavor, and the beef-infused broth turns so sharp and tangy that you keep spooning it up.

We put the piping-hot beef and various vegetables into rice paper along with extra rice-paper-roll vegetables. It was crisp, fresh, and clean, and between all the different flavors I ended up so full. I was supposed to finish with kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) and self-serve porridge, but I got so caught up eating that I was already stuffed.

I couldn't manage it this time, but if you visit Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch, make sure to try the kalguksu and porridge! They even kindly provide instructions for making the porridge well, along with raw eggs and vegetables.

The dessert corner inside the restaurant

Dessert corner: affogato, sparkling water and unlimited draft beer

No matter how full you are, you can't skip dessert! After the meal, there was no need to go to a café — we just used the dessert corner inside Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch.

There's tteok (rice cake) and fruit available too, which is great for the adults in the group.

Alongside soft drinks, there's even pumpkin porridge you can have as a dessert or starter. One thing that was different from other places — they had sparkling water! Sometimes you want a fizzy drink but it's too sweet — having plain sparkling water, or mixing it into other drinks to cut the sweetness, was such a nice touch.

There was plum juice, citrus juice, and a variety of teas too.

Espresso machine and soft-serve ice cream machine
Homemade ice cream affogato

Among all the dessert options, my final pick was affogato! There's a proper espresso machine and a soft-serve ice cream machine set up, and the 'ice cream affogato' — a generous scoop of soft serve topped with a shot of espresso — is a must-try. Thanks to the espresso shot, it wasn't overly sweet even though it's ice cream, and it was so good!

Chocolate granola for topping ice cream

There are also various toppings you can add to your ice cream, and chocolate granola was one of them. You don't usually see granola at a buffet, but as a topping it made the dessert even better!

Unlimited draft beer to enjoy with the meal

Beer lovers, take note! Unlimited draft beer included in a buffet — if you love beer, shouldn't you be heading there right now? It's such a great setup for a family gathering or a get-together with friends. You can enjoy the beer, and it's especially great for everyone except the designated driver.

Dessert to take away, and paying with Asan Pay

By the way, there's also a dessert takeout service here! They give you disposable cups so you can take drinks, coffee, or ice cream home with you — isn't that such a nice extra? My friend packed ice cream + ice + espresso, and I packed ice cream + espresso + chocolate granola to go! The espresso is hot and melts the ice cream quickly, so pack plenty of ice cream.

Asan Pay is accepted here too, and there's an event where you can earn points, so be sure to check it out 🎉

From August 10 to September 20, there's a 'Shasha' event running where you can eat at Shabu20 and win a Chanel bag. There are various prizes up for grabs — Chanel bags, Tiffany jewelry, a StandbyME, an iPad — so check it out and don't forget to enter after your shabu-shabu meal!

A spacious, clean restaurant, convenient parking, fresh all-you-can-eat meat, and a wide range of side dishes — Shabu20 Asan Onyang Branch really didn't miss a beat! If you want a satisfying, feel-good meal or a great restaurant to stop at during a Sinjeongho outing, don't hesitate to visit. I'd come back 200%!
