Songdo salt bread café with fresh 2 p.m. bakes: Cozy Bear

In short

Cozy Bear is a bakery café near Central Park in Songdo, Incheon, serving several kinds of salt bread and drinks. We visited for the 2 p.m. fresh bake and tried the red bean butter salt bread, grapefruit ade, and lemon ade; the grapefruit ade was especially fresh and not overly sweet. Verdict: Time your visit for 2 p.m. if you want salt bread straight from the oven.

Cozy Bear’s exterior and how to get there in Songdo

Exterior of Cozy Bear bakery in Songdo

This is Cozy Bear (코지베어)! I’d heard it was known for its wide variety of salt bread and tasty drinks~! True to its name, which means a cozy bear, it felt like it would give every guest a warm hug~!

From the Songdo Hillstate Complex 5 or Korea Coast Guard stop, it was about a four-minute walk~! It wasn’t difficult to get here by bus, so access was pretty good too.

Even from outside, I could see a drawing of a bear lying on top of salt bread. It suited the café name so perfectly and was adorable~! They serve guests freshly baked salt bread every day, so I was already excited. We’ve tried salt bread at other bakeries and cafés, but this was almost our first time having it in Songdo, so I kept wondering what it would taste like here~!

Once we stepped inside, wow~! So many kinds of salt bread were waiting to greet customers. Honestly, the smell of bread was already wafting out from outside and tempting our noses, so even passersby would have to stop, haha.

The menu board said their salt bread uses French Président butter, Guérande sea salt, and premium flour as its main ingredients~! I loved that you could tell they were assuring customers of the taste.

There are two baking times each day, at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., and we happened to visit around 2 p.m., when the staff were busily baking bread~! I really thought we’d done well to arrive right at that time, haha.

There were so many varieties that it really felt like a salt bread specialty bakery: plain salt bread, potato salt bread, garlic salt bread, red bean butter salt bread, and more~ Some items even sold out while we were hesitating because they were so popular~

Red bean butter salt bread and grapefruit ade

Grapefruit ade, lemon ade, and red bean butter salt bread

Ta-da~ Here are the grapefruit ade, lemon ade, and red bean butter salt bread we ordered~ We wanted to get more, but... we’d absolutely stuffed ourselves at lunch before coming to the café, so we only ordered one bread..ㅠㅠ Just as we were eagerly wondering what it would taste like, everything came out almost as soon as we ordered. I loved how quickly it arrived~!

Fluffy red bean butter salt bread

Isn’t the red bean butter salt bread just unbelievably cute? Haha. The bread itself was so soft and fluffy, with a perfect shape like something out of a cartoon, lol.

Unusually, they gave us scissors and tongs instead of a knife?! Haha. That made it easier to cut~ It’s convenient for customers, though I imagine the owner has a lot more to wash, lol.

Their signature drinks included vanilla bean cream latte, Valrhona chocolate milk, and Cozy Latte. It was a little hot on the way over and we were thirsty, so we put the signature drinks aside and ordered ades instead~! Wow... they really quenched our thirst completely. They weren’t too sweet, and they were refreshing with the true taste of fresh fruit! The grapefruit ade was especially delicious~~

A salt bread café worth stopping by on a Songdo outing

Because it’s near Songdo Central Park, it would be lovely to stop by on the way to or from the park, or while you’re out exploring Songdo, and enjoy delicious salt bread with coffee or ade~! The interior is cozy and comfortable, so it’s a nice place to visit with family too~ The owner was really kind as well.
